FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
: Since 1996,
has operated at the two Santa Cruz yard and wood waste facilities transforming Organics into
sustainable products for the gardening and landscape communities. With the current contract set to expire this December 31st, Santa Cruz County Public Works Department and four out of five Supervisors elected to terminate local Organics. They chose to truck the material out of the county with a trucking company that is $211,500 more expensive and has plans to divert all of the material to compost. An entire infrastructure that
created was decimated, a diversity of products eliminated, thousands of trucks on the road will increase and the only
locally recycled commodity sent away. Thanks to all of our customers and supporters over the years for your business and loyalty to local recycling.
has five facilities around the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas. Vision will work to service the Santa Cruz customer base from its other facilities. Again, thank you to everyone who has stuck with us over the last eight months through this long and arduous process. After January 1st 2018 Vision Recycling will
longer be operating at the Buena Vista Landfill and Ben Lomond Transfer Station. We're sorry to see these fine local institutions disappear.
