Winter Weather and Lincoln Square - What to Know
Winter officially begins today, and that means it is time to get ready for the snow, slush, and ice. When winter weather arrives, the Lincoln Square BID's  Clean Team hits the streets ready to  shovel crosswalks, pedestrian crossings in the Broadway Malls, bus stops, catch basins and fire hydrants. However, keeping Lincoln Square passable is a team effort that involves everyone.

Recently, the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has
posted a handy guide listing the snow removal responsibilities of homeowners, property managers, businesses, and residents along with a SnowFAQ. Plus, the  Final Borough-Based Snow Plan is available on nyc.gov/dsny.

All winter weather updates and information about the City's response can be found by visiting the City's Severe Weather Website at nyc.gov/severeweather or by calling 311. Information will also be regularly updated on nyc.gov/sanitation.

In addition to discount tickets to performances on the Lincoln Center campus, same-day discount tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows will also be available at the Zucker Box Office (the same offerings that are available at TKTS Times Square).

The David Rubenstein Atrium is located on Broadway between 62nd and 63rd Streets.  Matinee tickets are available the day before the performance. When available, Sunday tickets are sold on Saturday. The box office is open from  Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00pm to 7:00pm and closed on Sunday and Monday.
The Magic Flute at The Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera's English-language family adaptation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's sublime and mystical journey, The Magic Flute, returns in Julie Taymor's fanciful production. Running through Thursday, January 5, the opera has become  a new holiday tradition in New York City.

Young stars Janai Brugger and Ben Bliss are the fairy-tale princess and prince, and Christopher Maltman reprises his acclaimed interpretation of the bird-catcher Papageno. Special holiday pricing and weekday matinees are available for this abridged version, conducted by Antony Walker.

You can read more about The Magic Flute and purchase tickets at metopera.org. And be sure to check out their entire list of upcoming On Stage performances for 2017.

Plus, if you are still itching for some holiday season culture, some tickets still remain for the  New York City Ballet presentation of  George Balanchine's The Nutcracker  which runs through Saturday, December 31.
Show Your Civic Pride - Support the Lincoln Square BID in 2017
A quaint gem in the middle of a busy intersection, where Broadway meets Columbus Avenue and across from Lincoln Center's iconic campus, Dante Park sits as a respite for busy New Yorkers who need a moment to sit or a place to enjoy a calmer lunch hour outside. The park was named in honor of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri and a statue of him sits in the center of the park's green interior, surrounded by benches, planters, and three seating areas along with one of our Information Carousels.

Recently, the park has undergone extensive work by the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), extending the northern tip. Despite the myriad orange cones, machinery, and upheaval, we have worked diligently to keep the park beautiful and welcoming.  Plus, with the fence having been removed as part of the Parks Without Borders initiative, Dante Park's quality and contribution to the neighborhood is no longer dampened by an unattractive, forgotten fence. Securing funds from the City Council and supporters, we strive to make sure that Dante's green interior matches t he quality of this wonderful neighborhood. But it is still  lacking in flowers, as we have no budget for summer annuals for Dante Park's interior. We would love to  add more color and texture to the interior for everyone to enjoy. Dante Park is important to the area's streetscape; please consider donating to help us raise funds to continue providing a great park and amenity to the neighborhood.  Click here to donate.
