The Six Holiday Senses Book

This December our teachers got together to make a new holiday tactile book for some of their families. Each page of this tactile book is dedicated to a different sense – vision, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. The sixth sense is a feeling – the love that you and your family experience during the holidays or any time of year.

Make Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments

Homemade cinnamon applesauce ornaments are an easy holiday craft for the whole family. They’re perfect for hanging throughout the house, on the holiday tree, or attaching to a present – and your house will smell like the holidays!

What We Love Now

This Montessori musical light-up toy encourages your child to develop fine-motor, tactile, and tummy- time skills. The balls come in five different colors and textures. When your child puts a ball into a hole, the toy lights up and plays music.

One of our parents loves this toy because her daughter likes to explore the balls with her mouth. They have different textures and are made of softer material than hard plastic.

She added, “I also loved that once the ball is in a socket, it lights up and the toy's lights are soft with two brightness settings. My daughter is sensitive to light, yet she needs light for contrast to see."

Need a last-minute gift or a stocking stuffer? We’ve got the list of perfect sensory toys! We compiled our favorites HERE.

The Joy of Gift Giving and Receiving

Holidays and other special occasions are an important part of our culture but can be challenging for children with special needs.

During the holidays, you want to give your child opportunities to learn the joy of giving and receiving gifts, without overwhelming their senses with wrapping paper, bows, and the excitement of family celebrations.

HERE are some proven strategies to put the joy back into gift giving and receiving for you and your child.
