Making the Holidays Accessible for All

The holidays can be both a rewarding and a challenging time for many people. Whether you are stressed preparing for guests, presents, and parties or struggling with loneliness, this time of year can represent both the good emotions and the bad. This is especially relevant to individuals with disabilities. Many disabled people are secluded from their families or support systems, and while that is disheartening throughout the year, it is especially apparent during the holiday season. Others may be struggling with the added pressures of socialization and overstimulation that accompany parties, guests, and other occurrences that take place during the holidays.

Regardless of the specific situation that you find yourself in, there are many ways to make the holidays more accessible for the disabled individuals in your life. See below for a resource list with information and tips on how to make this holiday season accessible for all.
