HAPPY HOLIDAYS FRIENDS!

Our favorite winter season opened last week with 3 feet of new snow!! I hurried back last Saturday, but you know the locals, no deep powder left on Aspen Mountain but there was plenty of gorgeous “corduroy” groomed slopes which is perfect to get the legs ready for the next storm! Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountains will be opening Saturday, December 14th.

This is a very joyous month with picture postcard beauty. There is nothing that quite says Christmas/Hanukkah/New Year’s than the glistening snow beauty with red, green and white lights. We are so thankful for our longtime friends, clients and feel so blessed to call Aspen our home. Enjoy all the wonderful events and joyous activities this holiday season!

REAL ESTATE UPDATE

Yes, we’ve seen crazy sold prices on numerous off market property and rising per square footage prices on listings in the MLS. With the change of administration in Washington, we generally think our market this winter could skyrocket, especially on the exceptional properties.

Supply and Demand is always the issue with real estate product in Aspen, hence the insane off market sales at numbers over $7,000 per sq feet. Note, the number of sales drops while the prices rise. Jeff Bezos bought a home on lower Red Mountain for his parents years ago- guess he was a visionary on real estate too!

Aspen local Klaus Obermeyer turns 105

Our very dear Klaus Obermeyer-the man who invented so many incredible skiing clothing we take for granted-both in utility and beauty- just celebrated his 105th birthday!!!

Klaus Obermeyer represents the pioneering face — and heart — of skiing. His lifelong passion for the sport led him to innovate much-needed gear during skiing’s infancy. Now, at age 105, his positivity and contributions continue to ripple throughout the industry.

Wintersköl

December 12-15, 2024 | Around town and on mountain

Wintersköl, Aspen’s annual “toast to winter,” dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when locals chose to commemorate Aspen's distinctive mountain way of life with a diverse weekend of events.

Join the locals for a four-day celebration featuring on-mountain activities, concerts, a craft beer fest, Soupsköl, a torchlight descent down Aspen Mountain, a bonfire and fireworks.
