Dear Chicagoans,

As 2021 comes to a close, I want to thank Chicago's businesses, employers, and consumers for working together to build a foundation for economic recovery and marketplace revitalization.

On December 15, I was confirmed by the Chicago City Council to be the BACP Commissioner. As a dedicated public servant with over two decades working for the City of Chicago, most recently as the BACP First Deputy Commissioner since 2016 and then BACP Acting Commissioner since July 2021, I will be leading BACP’s primary efforts to ensure a fair and vibrant marketplace for both businesses and consumers. My goal as Commissioner is to ensure that each Chicagoan’s voice is heard, all business owner’s concerns are noted, the rights of every worker are upheld, and that every consumer is protected.

I want to take a moment to thank Chicago’s small business community, as well as each and every Chicagoan, for making the choice to support and grow our local economy. When you shop and dine at neighborhood favorites, you’re investing in your community and the neighborhood economies that are the livelihood of so many working families and business owners across Chicago.

I am hopeful for the future of our beloved city and wish everyone a happy and healthy end of the year.

Sincerely,

Kenneth J. Meyer
BACP Commissioner
