Joy Bells Spreads Joy to Families

On December 9, 96 families and 239 children, who may otherwise have struggled to celebrate the holidays with gifts and food,

were able to have their needs fulfilled.

Many thanks to multiple parishes, Kids Bike Lane, National Charity League of Oakland-Piedmont, and students from St. Mary’s College High School and Bishop O’Dowd High School. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Ceremony of Crosses Honors

Those Lost to Homicide

All are welcome to St. Columba Catholic Church's 13th Annual Ceremony of the Crosses on December 31 at 3pm, to honor the lives lost to homicide in Oakland this year. All will gather in the church to pray for their souls and an end to violence in Oakland. Then, the gathering moves to the front garden, where the names will be read and crosses will be presented to families who lost loved ones.

Catholic Charities Crisis Response Services currently serves over 70 families by providing support and counseling to families and friends who have lost loved ones to homicide in Oakland.
