Students Create Restaurant for Teacher Appreciation

Some of our students recently put together a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Dinner, transforming one of our offices into a restaurant called The House of Burgers!

The students designed the decor, created the menu, and served as cooks, greeters, and wait staff.

All their hard work paid off, as everyone had a great time and the teachers rated this exciting new restaurant 5 out of 5 stars!

 Pilobolus Dance Workshop

This Fall we were lucky enough to have
Pilobolus Dance Theater, a world-famous dance group who has performed at the Oscars and the Olympics, come to Ivy St. to do a workshop on dance and movement arts with our students! Everyone had a blast!

Happy Holidays from Ivy St. School!

In a collage of pictures, three Ivy St, students pose in front of a white background, a student waters plants in a garden, and two students sing on stage at Extravaganza
In this holiday season, we at Ivy Street School pause to reflect on what has been an outstanding year, and look ahead to even bigger accomplishments in 2015!

2014 was a tremendous year of growth for Ivy St. For many years, the Ivy Street School has been one of just a few schools in the country that can make a real difference when a family has a child with a brain injury or other neurological problem. Now, due to growing need, we are developing new programming to provide services for adolescents with autism or behavioral health challenges.

Here are just some of the highlights from the year:

  • Welcoming our new Clinical Director, Dr. Maryellen Pambookian (click here to learn more about Dr. Pambookian), and adding an additional Speech/Language Pathologist to our clinical team.
  • Expanding summer programming, including a two-week overnight Transition Skills Program.
  • Launching a Literacy Initiative with our new Reading Specialist.
  • Partnering with fifteen different community employment partners in our ever-expanding Vocational Program.
  • Presenting our 3rd Annual Extravaganza performance at the Wheelock Family Theatre, featuring skits, dancing, singing, and magic!

We have exciting plans to enrich our program even more this year, but we can't do it without your support. You can make an impact on the lives of our students today by making a donation using our secure online form here.

We greatly appreciate your support, and wish you all a happy holiday season.

Ivy St. Hawks Play at Gillette Stadium, Secure Undefeated Record

The Ivy Street Hawks Special Olympics flag football team
The Ivy St. Hawks Flag Football Team 2014

Our Ivy St. Hawks flag football team were outstanding this Fall, finishing with a perfect 5-0 record!

On Oct. 26th, they won both their games in the Special Olympics Massachusetts flag football assessment. Then, on Sunday, Nov. 16th, the Hawks went 3-0 in a Special Olympics flag football tournament held on the grand stage of Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots!

Playing like true champions, the Hawks displayed teamwork and sportsmanship - not to mention they also had the loudest cheering section of staff and students, who braved the cold to support our team! We're extremely proud - go Hawks!
