EAT FOR REAL - ENCORE

We are happy to report that doing the Eat For Real project again was a smashing success! This was a program designed with teen eating habits in mind. Thanks to Hannah Beck from the Fresh Air Fund, we are able to share some photos of the event.

A big thank you goes to our friends at the Fresh Air Fund for this wonderful experience!

COACHING THE MIND-BODY EXPERIENCE

We were thrilled to come across two willing participants for an experiment involving the mind-body connection! With the help of our friends at PTontheNet, the experience was filmed and now is displayed on their homepage and in their current newsletter.

Meet Sam and Ellen from Canada who were visiting the Big Apple. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to coach these steps in heightening the mind-body awareness!

SAFE EXERCISE DURING PREGNANCY

There are often questions regarding what is safe and what isn't safe while a woman is pregnant. Will certain activities cause complications later? Our friend, Nina Peacock, who has quoted me for eHow has written an article for LIVESTRONG that helps put these questions and concerns to rest...involving our advice, as well. Thank you, Nina!

COQUI THE CHEF PROJECT

One of our own is looking for help and support as she promotes smart eating habits among children and families with Coqui the Chef! We are proud of Tania Lopez for taking this step in fighting against obesity and diabetes.

There are only a couple days left for them to reach their fund matching deadline.

See for yourself at what she's accomplished so far, and be part of the change!

THE EASIEST HOLIDAY RECIPE IN THE WORLD

When you think of the holidays, you think of delicious eats! But where can you find the time?
cinnamon tea

We recommend that you keep it simple, starting with the easiest holiday recipe in the world--Cinnamon tea!

Cinnamon Tea
  • Fill 1 ˝ quart pot or kettle with water
  • Add 1-3 cinnamon sticks
  • Bring to a boil and lower heat to simmer for another 10 minutes (watch that there is adequate water in the pot/kettle while simmering)
  • Pour into a cup and enjoy-it is naturally sweet!*

(*You can add any type of milk, though for its digestive benefits, drinking the tea without milk is best)

What else is there to cinnamon? Read on!

(*facts collected from this source)

-Several studies suggest that cinnamon may have a regulatory effect on blood sugar, making it especially beneficial for people with Type 2 diabetes.*

-In some studies, cinnamon has shown an amazing ability to stop medication-resistant yeast infections.*

-In a study published by researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Maryland, cinnamon reduced the proliferation of leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells.

It has an anti-clotting effect on the blood.*

-In a study at Copenhagen University, patients given half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder combined with one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast had significant relief in arthritis pain after one week and could walk without pain within one month.*

-From Wikipedia, it has shown to have anti-viral properties.

-Dr. Oz recommends it for anti-aging. Cinnamon - to decrease blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol.
