2021 Highlights
Flagship Affordable Housing Transaction in West Africa
MiDA Advisors is supporting a pioneering transaction to secure more than U.S. $300 million in private capital, including investments from pension funds and mutual funds, for the financing of homeownership in West Africa. This transaction helps American investors access new opportunities and provides an avenue for those in West Africa to build generational wealth through homeownership.


Innovative New Investments Announced with DPI and Everstrong Capital
MiDA announced recent U.S. and African institutional capital allocations into Africa focused funds. This represents a significant accomplishment in USAID’s mission to identify and facilitate investment opportunities for U.S. institutional investors alongside African institutional capital in Africa's key sectors and enterprises.



Mercer Publication Part II
Now Available
The Mercer publication Part ll, titled Infrastructure Financing in Sub-Saharan Africa: Opportunities and Impact for Institutional Investors launched this year! For this second publication Mercer and MiDA partnered with Standard Bank Group, the leading financial institution in Africa, to survey and analyze various case studies presented in this report in greater detail. Our analysis revealed unique insights on the financing of several projects across sub-Saharan Africa.



WE>MI Programme Cohort Advances to Investment Support Facility Stage
The Women Empowerment Mentoring and Incubation (WE>MI) Fund Manager Program inaugural cohort of 12 women-owned firms in Southern African has completed the technical assistance support portion of the program, and are transitioning to investment facility support.
As we prepare for the investment facility phase of this program, we are calling on our partners to provide your guidance, feedback and support to ensure the success of these women-owned firms that will play key roles in supporting women-owned businesses and communities in Southern Africa.

MiDA Advisors Co-Hosted the Asset Owners Forum South Africa Launch with Batseta
The official launch of the Asset Owners Forum of South Africa was held on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Johannesburg, South Africa! The Asset Owners Forum South Africa is a Forum of some of the largest South African pension funds created under the auspices of Batseta, representing an estimated $200bln USD.

This Forum serves as the first major effort of pension funds in South Africa to collaborate on investments in infrastructure and other alternative projects that support local economic development in alignment with SA government economic development initiatives.
The Case for Investing in Africa Webinar focusing on Mercer Publication Part ll
MiDA Advisors co-hosted a webinar with NASP to discuss the Mercer Publication Part II. This webinar highlighted key themes from the publication that are relevant in African markets climate today. The webinar featured speakers from Mercer, MiDA Advisors, and Standard Bank Group.
Strengthening Economic Ties Between the U.S. and Africa Webinar; A Conversation with Chairman Gregory Meeks
MiDA Advisors was pleased to c0-host an impactful virtual discussion in partnership with the NASP-MiDA Advisory Council with U.S. Congressman Gregory Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, focusing on key priorities for reinforcing the economic relationship between the U.S. and Africa. This event set the tone for future events and engagements with the United States Government, including a roundtable discussion hosted by Prosper Africa in December.

Roundtable Virtual Event hosted by Prosper Africa and USAID
This December, MiDA Advisors was honored to support Prosper Africa and USAID for a roundtable discussion focused on deepening African capital markets and increasing Africa's access to global capital markets. This discussion highlighted the need to significantly increase U.S. and other private investment flows through a comprehensive and coordinated U.S. Government effort in order to address the structural and systemic constraints that result in poor access to capital.
The First Annual East Africa Infrastructure Finance Day Event
The 1st Annual East Africa Infrastructure Finance Event, co-hosted by USAID, MiDA Advisors, Everstrong Capital, and Standard Bank Group, was held on Wednesday October 27, 2021. The aim of this virtual event was to raise awareness of the evolution of private finance of infrastructure in Kenya and East Africa, and highlighted the significant role that infrastructure development continues to make in boosting the East African economy as well as the opportunities available for infrastructure investments in the region.

This report builds upon the 2018 groundbreaking publication by MiDA Advisors and Mercer, Investment in African Infrastructure: Challenges and Opportunities, which offered an initial examination of sustainable investment opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa. This second report makes the affirmative case for Africa as an infrastructure and real assets investment destination. As in the first publication, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) co-sponsored an expansive survey of the market that is included in the report.
