The holidays are a time to be with family and to celebrate the season, so whether you're celebrating Hanukkah or you're planning for Three Kings Day, Christmas or Kwanzaa, we wish you a joyous and safe holiday season.
2022 was a eventful year for Oxmoor. We hosted our first annual International Chamber Music Festival in June. Talented musicians from across the globe performed 3 concerts in 4 days. We ended the festival with a gala dinner in the Oxmoor gardens prepared by Chef Ouita Michel. We continued our Evenings of Note concerts series, with 4 performances throughout the year from different musical genres such as opera, jazz, and chamber music. Both the Chamber Music Festival and Evenings of Note will continue in 2023!
In addition to our music events, Oxmoor began an extensive archeological excavation project near and inside the former slave dwellings. This important project has yielded many artifacts dating back to the 1830s and will be an integral part of an exhibit on the life of the enslaved community at Oxmoor that we plan to house in 2 of the former dwellings. We will also continue programming with the Louisville Coalition on the History of Enslavement. This coalition with our sister historic homes, Farmington, Locust Grove, and Riverside: The Farnsley-Moreman Landing, will host a series of book discussions throughout 2023.
