Happy Holidays from Nancy Skeans, CEO

From all of us at Schneider Downs Wealth Management to all of you, Happy Holidays and have a very Happy New Year!

I ask myself every year where the last year disappeared to. I suspect many of you do the same. 2022, like all of the years before, has brought wonderful things to be grateful for, as well as challenges to face and overcome.

One of those challenges has been the volatility of the securities markets over the past year. We have not seen such negative volatility since COVID burst into our lives in 2020, and prior to that, we must go back to 2018. The interesting thing is that before that, we have to go back to late 2015 and early 2016, and prior to that, we have to go back to…….get the picture? While I truly understand that many of you are very worried about where the world is headed, and some are worried if this market will ever recover, let me say only this - we have been here before, many times before. There is good and bad that go into each years’ economic activity, and to our clients, don’t think your team at SDWMA takes this lightly. We feel every one of those down days, and our goal is to help you navigate them with proactive short-term actions (like tax loss harvesting) and thoughtful long-term decision making.

I hope as we enter the apex of the holiday season, you all can focus on the people, events, and exciting places that you experienced in 2022 or will experience in the coming days. For many of us that will be spending time with our families and friends. Cherish the faces of the new folks around you, whether spouses, babies, or friends. Remember and celebrate the grace and love of those we have lost this past year. And lastly, hold those around you close and have a wonderful time.

We can’t wait to see you in 2023!

Our teams are already getting in the holiday spirit- we were more than excited to be able to gather together in person again for our annual holiday parties in Pittsburgh and Columbus.
