Year End Reflections
From: Glen Sands and Cheryl Sands

As this year ends we really want to focus on two things; our wonderful clients and our amazing employees. It takes both working together to make things run like a well-oiled machine. We feel very lucky to have top notch people we deal with in both areas.

For example, we have fourteen employees that have been with SMB Medical Billing for over ten years! That is a pretty good record, and it means there is a ton of experience that we have on our staff. One thing I always appreciate about our employees is the willingness to help each other out. If one person has a question about something an insurance company is doing, chances are very high that someone else has already experienced that and can quickly help them out. Also, there is never a time when your assigned biller is “out” and your claims pile up, to be done at a later date. Everyone here is cross trained and knows how to step in for each other during vacations etc.

We also realize we have great clients to work with. Most of you we have never met personally, but we have talked to you so much over the years that we feel like we know you! Each biller takes a lot of pride in their individual accounts and really enjoys the relationships they have fostered during this process.

As another year closes we want to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy Holiday! We look forward to 2018 and we hope that it is our best year yet together! Happy New Year from all of us at SMB Medical Billing!

(By the way, the picture of Glen and myself was taken recently before a lunch meeting. I think we took the “togetherness” too far when we ended up dressing alike! But I thought you would enjoy the picture anyway!)
Employee Spotlight:
Julie Inman
Customer Service Specialist

It is our pleasure to highlight one of our veteran employees, Julie Inman. She is our Customer Service Specialist and has been working for SMB for over 10 years. We appreciate her dedication and loyalty to SMB. Please enjoy learning more about Julie.

About Me:
  • I am married with one daughter. I love reading, baking and spending time with my family.
  • I’m very involved in volunteering with Girl Scouts. I am the service unit manager for the schools in our city and the troop leader for my daughter’s 7th grade troop.
  • I love supporting our local animal shelter, KC Pet Project. When the need arises I foster puppies for them. The puppies are anywhere from a couple days old up to 8 weeks old when they are able to be adopted out.

Memorable story about working at SMB:
  • In 2015 the Royals won the World Series which was a huge deal for KC fans. There was a celebration parade in downtown KC that everyone wanted to go to but it was in the middle of a work day. SMB was nice enough to let the employees off work so we could attend. Without the thoughtfulness of SMB I wouldn’t have experienced such a memorable celebration for our city.

  • I enjoy helping people understand their billing and helping resolve any issues they have with it.
  • My goal in customer service is to make every call pleasant and as timely as the patient needs it to be.
