Where are you from?
I’m from Houston, Texas.
Were you involved in theatre in when you were in high school? Any past theatre experience on stage or behind the scenes?
I’ve been involved in theatre since I was a little one, and I just progressively got more involved throughout high school. I’ve gone from being in costumes to acting, writing, directing, and even doing lights. I can’t say there’s a single part of the theatre that I don’t enjoy.
What were the reasons you decided to enroll at Austin Community College?
I decided to enroll at ACC, because I didn’t really know what I wanted to do or how to go about doing it
Any favorite classes in the Drama Department and why? Important things you have learned so far?
I think the ACC drama department has really helped me understand my career path and how many possibilities there are. In my acting class I was able to experience acting in an unconventional way: nursing simulations. Pretending to be a person with stage two diabetes and an allergy to Benadryl showed me that acting wasn’t just useful onstage or in film. In my voice and diction class, something I recommend for everyone, I was able to understand how vital the voice is, not just in everyday life, but as something that is important to who we are as individuals.
You were cast in our fall 2019 production of
Much Ado About Nothing
. Can you tell us a bit about the character(s) you played? And what the rehearsal/performance process was like?
In
Much Ado About Nothing
I had the pleasure to play Borachio and a cyborg version of Claudio. Borachio was a drunk, which I enjoyed a lot. Speaking in Shakespearean language while also trying to maintain the composure of a drunkard was fun and challenging. Claudio was a challenge, since I had obtained the role shortly before the performances, but in the end playing a robot is something I can now check off my bucket list.
