Dear members, staff and friends of the George Washington University (GW) Cancer Center:

As the year comes to a close, it's a wonderful opportunity to share with you season's greetings and good wishes. 2019 has been a busy and fruitful time here at the GW Cancer Center, and I look forward to the exciting possibilities ahead in 2020.

When I think about the progress we have made against cancer since the beginning of this decade, I'm amazed at the pace of research, breakthroughs and innovations in patient care - and the contributions we have made right here at GW.

In the past year alone:

This is just a small sampling of the many highlights and discoveries of the past year.

I am also committed to continuing this progress into the future, by investing in training the experts of tomorrow, continuing to keep patient-centered care at the core of our mission and renewing our focus on outreach and engagement as we address many of the health disparities that continue to persist here in our community and nationwide.

May your holidays be filled with peace, happiness and hope.

Happy Holidays,
Eduardo M. Sotomayor, MD
