Year in review, new promotional content, the student experience, and more!

2022 in Review

This past year has been full of exciting announcements and innovations for WriteAway

  • With one-time bridge funding from the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, WriteAway provided support incentives to institutions interested in joining the service and hired a part-time, auxiliary writing tutor to bridge staffing gaps for the fall semester

  • Yukon University became the service's 20th participating institution, coming on board in time for the summer semester.

  • A self-serve model for statistics retrieval was launched, increasing transparency and enabling institutional coordinators to collect the data that best fits their needs.

  • Supportive resources, such as scripts and video resources, were updated based on feedback from service providers

  • Training and orientation was refreshed with input from service providers and institutional coordinators

Spreading the Word About WriteAway

Visibility Tip of the Month

This fall, the Admin Centre began sharing monthly tips for visibility and promotion. Each Visibility Tip of the Month is based on the WriteAway promotional best practices and offers suggestions for using resources, strategies, and marketing materials available to institutional coordinators.

A new tip will be shared at the beginning of the month from October 2022 to September 2023.

Refreshed Social Media Content

WriteAway promotional materials were given a refreshed look with the return to on-campus learning. Brand new social media content is now available for institutional coordinators to share with students via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. With both seasonal and evergreen options, students can learn about WriteAway year-round.

The Student Experience

Throughout the fall semester, students shared their appreciation for the way that feedback from WriteAway guides them through the writing process...

“Thank you so much for your helpful feedback. I knew about paragraph structure a bit, but I wasn’t sure how I could connect to the instructions. Thanks to your advice, I will be able to make my essay better. I’ll also try to clarify sentences. Thank you so much!"

Camosun College Student

"Although the feedback was mostly positive, I'm glad to have received another opinion on my essay, and I'm really happy with the suggestion for improvement that made my essay better. Great service!"

University of British Columbia Student

"It was helpful, as I am always looking for feedback on my assignments. I will take the critique I got and improve my assignment before submitting. I appreciated the embedded comments within the paper giving specific examples of areas to improve, as well as the general feedback."

Simon Fraser University Student

"Thank you very much, this was very helpful! What a great way for me to relearn how to write. Great advice and resources that I will be able to apply in future assignment. Will be using this service again."

Thompson Rivers University Student

Warmest wishes to all for a safe and joyous holiday season.

The WriteAway Administrative Centre will be closed over the winter break (December 21, 2022 to January 2, 2023). We look forward to continuing to support students as they develop their writing skills in the new year!
