Family Trips 


Lincoln Park Zoo Lights - Sunday, December 15 th    1 - Approximately 9pm
 
Looking to start a new family holiday tradition?
Tis the season to celebrate bright lights and great family fun. The West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation & Community Services Department will be traveling by coach bus to Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago to visit their holiday lights display, Zoo Lights. The coach bus will depart from Nathan Hale Commons (West Entrance) at 1 pm and return to West Allis at approximately 9 pm. The zoo will be decorated with bright lights, 3D displays and musical light shows while offering fun activities such as free crafts for the children, photos with Santa, live ice sculpture carving, and a carousel and train rides. Families will have the opportunity to experience the lights together as they walk through the zoo, please dress for the weather. Participants may bring snacks and beverages for the bus ride.

Youth Sports

Gingerbread House Party with Natasha Ergen, Ages 3-6, 
Adult Optional
How is a gingerbread house made? Can you eat it? Come build your own gingerbread house and then you can take it home and eat it with your family or just put it on display, Saturday December 21, 1pm-2pm

Adult Sports 

Are you looking to get back on the court or need an excuse to get out of the house with some friends?  If so, the WAWM RCS Department is still looking for adult men's basketball teams for our Monday-Thursday leagues.  Sign up right away as there are limited spots available.  If you have questions please contact Cory Thompson at thompsonc@wawmsd.org  or 414-604-4938!


Community Groups 



The WAWM RCS is excited to partner with our Friends of Fine Arts programs in the community.  Those programs are Suburban Concert Band, Suburban Singers, West Allis Players and the WAWM Sinfonia.  Get the family together and celebrate the sounds of the holidays in some amazing performances.
Friday, December 6th - Suburban Concert Band 7:30pm at the Central Auditorium
  • Suburban Concert Band is a community band composed of both professional and amateur musicians from West Allis and the surrounding greater Milwaukee area.
Friday, December 13th - Suburban Singers in collaboration with WAWM Sinfonia 
  • Will present Vivaldi's Gloria with seasonal Choral and Symphonic Music.  The first half of each concert will feature an ensemble be each group.  The second half will be the groups performing together, followed by an audience sing-a-long of holiday favorites.
