IRCC Featured Artist, Marjean Hull, influenced by her father’s profession as an airplane mechanic, unleashed her artistic bent at the age of 2 ½ by drawing, with crayons, a large airplane on her grandmother’s dining room wall. To further explore her talent, her teachers allowed her to draw on the backs of her lessons once completed. Playing with paper dolls, drawing new paper clothes and coloring them, kept her artistic juices flowing along with the art projects her teachers assigned in high school including calligraphy.
“After taking art classes at the Art Institute of Canton, life took over!”, she said. “College, marriage and working for the Air Force commanded my time until retirement. Actually, I moved to IRCC with the idea to do art again!” And fortunate for us, she has!
Resident, Pat Corr, Member of the IRCC Cart Barn Players
Many years before Pat Corr had ever heard of IRCC, considered acting or became infamous as “Nana” and “The Bag Lady” she attended the Katharine Gibbs School in Manhattan and went on to work for a private investment firm on park Avenue that catered to the rich and famous.
A wonderful life until she met a handsome, blue-eyed ensign named Jim Corr.
2018 IRCC Marine Corps Ball Ceremony

On 8 November, 2018 the IRCC Marines and guests celebrated the 243 rd anniversary of the United States Marine Corps. For this, the Centennial of World War I, the attendees of the Marine Corps Ball found the ceremony honoring the Marines first major engagement of the First World War, the Battle of Belleau Woods June 1-26, 1918. After the Battle of Belleau Woods the Germans were calling the Marines “ Teufel Hunden” or “Devil Dogs” which would become to rival the “Leathernecks” as a favorite nickname.

The Beginning of the IRCC Zebra Band
by Anna Brotemarkle

On Dec. 30, 2010, my friends and I were on a ship sailing from Cape Canaveral to the Bahamas accompanied by spirited passengers anticipating a New Year’s Eve celebration that would include the spectacular Junkanoo Parade on Bay Street in downtown Nassau. We were aware that groups marched in breathtaking costumes, mostly homemade from cardboard, wire, and anything that glitters, playing drums, cowbells, horns and whistles. For hundreds of years slaves were freed to celebrate during this same twenty-four hour period, and in modern times it became more organized with exciting musical groups.
First performance of the Zebra Band was at the IRCC Community Fair in Feb. 2011. Anna wears an authentic zebra hat piece obtained from the Nassau Junkanoo Parade. At home, Janet Hudson and her Sweat Shop promptly produced four more hats and other costumes, and the group was named the Zebras.
