Dear Friends of The Blue Purl,

Happy Winter Solstice and Holiday season to you all. I'm sure you've heard about the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. Apparently it happens every 20 years, but this year is the closest since 1623 and the closest that we can see in our night sky since 1226. We are taking this as a sign, it's time to take a breath and enjoy our families.

We are closed for December 24th, 25th and also December 31 and January 1st. We have amended hours the other days, please see below.

As always, you can shop in our online store and purchase gift cards. Our goal is to stay in the moment during this season.

Knowing how to fix your mistakes is a real super power! Pick up a dropped stitch, tink (literally knit backwards :) frogging, putting in a lifeline... Take control of your knitting!

This is a great first hat – a unisex knit in 3 sizes and a thick ribbed brim that is perfect for turning up into a double layer to keep your ears toasty. It will make a great gift or keep it for yourself! The hat knits up in a flash and the color options are endless…color blocks or stripes or both! All topped off with a yarn or fur pom pom!

Learn to Crochet - Windowpane
Level - Very Beginner

This geometric scarf pattern is easy and showcases any beautiful yarn you choose. A great starting project.

Skills Taught: You will learn the basics of crochet, making a chain, basic stitches, how to read a pattern and a chart.

Your 1st Sweater: Button Front Baby Pullover
Level - Intermediate
Instructor - Keri Samuels

Pattern: For Purchase

This is an adorable little pullover and is sure to be a favorite of new moms. Buttons on one side of the raglan line makes it easier dressing the baby, and the edges are ribbed.  You can make it a solid color, add stripes or use self-striping yarn to customize the design. It’s knitted top-down, and the sleeves are knitted in the round, so there are no seams. Add 2 cute buttons and you’ve got a darling baby gift!

Log Cabin Baby Blanket
Class:
Level - Beginner 2 - Good second project

Pattern: Free Download

This is a cute, fun-to-knit blanket that will be perfect for any lucky baby! The pattern is based on a traditional quilt pattern and is created by making garter stitch rectangles and then picking up stitches along one edge and continuing to add to the blanket seamlessly. The finished blanket is approximately 22’ x 24” but could be made larger by adding “layers” or using thicker yarn.

Leftovers from your Maple Sweater??
Caren made her Maple Sweater in no time... and then she made a Knitbots blanket with the remainder of her Felted Tweed and she also used Rowan Alpaca DK. She did another one earlier this year that won a TBP award :) we love it so much!!!!

Lisa made little Emerson this elegant Corsica Stroller Blanket from one of our kits! What a wonderful gift and perfect size for the stroller. Beautiful Lisa!

We love how Laurie played around with the Happy Hipster - she went from 2 x 2 to 4 x 4 And love the pom on top :) Carol also made a cute one for her granddaughter? Popular colorway! 2 Koigus do the trick. Love this very cool Espace Tricot pattern. Bravo gals!!!
Addison made a hat :)
Addison made her mom April's Bulky Waffle Hat pattern for her American Girl Doll. WE LOVE IT ADDISON! You're getting so good :) Keep going!!

Shana came in for a pom pom for her stranded Snowy Trees Hat which she made in Sandnes Garn Kos. Its so soft and beautiful! Way to go Shana!

Carol's Arctic Circle Cowl
Carol made Arctic Circle Cowl by designer Antonia Shankland. It's in our kit area. This is made with two skeins of Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande. Soft and cozy! AND BEAUTIFUL CAROL!

RoseMarie made this cute little top down garter stitch cardi - Norwegian Fir with Cascade Superwash Effects. So sweet RoseMarie!

It's all about the process and not giving up!!! Do not get hung up on your mistakes. Remember it's knitting not surgery :)
