 Ventura Water 2019 Accomplishments
This year was full of project milestones and accomplishments! As we head into a new year, Ventura Water would like to reflect on a few major highlights from 2019.

Earlier this year, Ventura City Council approved the Environmental Impact Reports for two major water supply projects including:

State Water Interconnection Project: a seven mile pipeline that will connect Calleguas Municipal Water District's system to the City of Ventura's system and enable the delivery of State Water to Ventura. This solution will help address anticipated cutbacks to the City's existing local water supplies and enable deliveries between regional agencies during emergencies.

VenturaWaterPure Project: a potable reuse project that will recover, treat, and reuse water that is currently discharged into the Santa Clara River. A new advanced water treatment facility will utilize a multi-stage treatment process to produce a reliable, high-quality, and local water source.

Collectively these projects will improve water quality, secure a new locally-owed water source, and meet future water supply needs.

Meter Update Project: The City successfully completed year-one of a three-year project to replace manually read water meters with advanced meters that provide customers with real time water usage data and leak detection capabilities. The project is nearly halfway complete with over 17,000 meters installed to date.

In other project related accomplishments, in July 2019, the Meter Upgrade Project was awarded a second $300,000 grant from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation totaling $600,000 dollars of federal funding recieved to date.

Water Conservation: We are happy to announce that Ventura residents remain committed to water conservation and improved water use efficiency. In 2019, Ventura Water customers conserved an average of 25% when compared to pre-drought years.

This year, Ventura Water launched 3 new indoor water conservation programs including the high efficiency toilet rebate, washing machine rebate, and instant hot water recirculating pump. Additionally, Ventura Water distributed over 150 smart irrigation controllers, 2,400 high efficiency nozzles and replaced 75,000 square feet of turf.

VenturaWaterPure Receives $2.5 Million Grant
The City of Ventura has received confirmation of funding from the Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program Funding in the amount of $2.5 million for the VenturaWaterPure Projects.

On December 16, 2019, Congress enacted the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act designating funding for top ranking projects including the City's VenturaWaterPure Project.

This funding will support project planning, permitting and pre-design that will facilitate construction of the VenturaWaterPure project. The City plans to continue to participate in future WIIN Act funding opportunities until it reaches the $20 million federal limit for the project .
Program Funds Expended
To date, program funds for the Instant Hot Water Recirculating Pump Program have been expended. Interested customers are encouraged to apply online to be placed on a wait list should funds become available in the future. For more information visit here.
