It's finally good to see and feel the sun more and more each day after our weird winter weather at Happy Hounds. April will bring all the pups out and crammed onto the deck for their space every afternoon vying for a bit of warm sunshine with their nap. Every year I try to go for the worlds record at most dogs that can nap/fit on the deck picture. It's fun and also deceiving, quite a few can fit because the little guys/girls can stand underneath their bigger friends.. The warmth also brings varied chaos at Happy Hounds, dogs chasing bees, dogs barking at thunder, everyday the mail carrier gets a shout out from the pups, the dogs afraid of rain, the christening of the dogs with the garden hose for those who love it, and the poor squirrels who decide to nest on our property will always know that they will be loved by someone (dogs) other than their family and the inevitable all at once howl of the pack when the fire truck roars down Main St. Happy Spring. Get your home projects started and we always have a dog or two staying with us because of roofers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, or general contractors.
This newsletter reflects the memorial service announcement for the owner and president of Happy Hounds who passed on March 10, 2016. The family asks for an RSVP for those attending the service and luncheon on April 10, 2016.
Also, the parents will be Happy, Happy, Happy with our Spring Sale announcement at Happy Hounds. The deals and bargains cannot be topped, stock up, save, and be Happy.
Phone orders will be taken for payment but we cannot print passes to be saved for later unless they are paid. The other option will be to get your pup to work for their school payments but I'm having a hard time with some that just want to play ball..and not scoop....

It is with a heavy heart that I regret to inform our wonderful followers and clients of the passing of our owner and president of Happy Hounds Dog Day Care & Lodging, Nancy A. Janoch on March 10th. Nancy built a strong and caring legacy for pets here in southeastern Michigan with the opening of Happy Hounds, in Plymouth, in 2004. She brought over 35 years of experience with pets and business to try her hand at the new concept of "totally cage-free, daycare and boarding." And today, 12 years later, Happy Hounds is going strong with lots of happy, tired pooches leaving through our "Red Gate" every evening.
Nancy will be remembered by everyone as a great community leader, mentor, and all around pet connoisseur. She would always have a pets' best interest at heart and her eyes would always sparkle at meeting every new pup. Throughout the years Happy Hounds became the staple of the dog daycare industry in southeastern Michigan, with many of our great clients coming far and wide to secure a spot for daycare or an overnight stay.
During Nancy's latest retirement years frequenting between Michigan and her favorite spot in Bellaire Beach Florida, Nancy often talked about many of the attributes Happy Hounds has to thank for its success. 1. Our Clients 2. The staff 3. Taking that chance on building a dream. During the last 12 years Happy Hounds has received that special privilege to care for many dogs, and many dogs come into our lives and create many memories, stories, and experiences. The staff have to eventually see them go, for whatever reasons they may be but I can tell you Happy Hounds has many, many, many best friends watching over us daily and now so is Nancy.

Meet Jake, a border collie mix. Jake joined the Happy Hounds family in February 2012 at the age of 8 months. This boy is quite the athlete! He's always in the basement, ready to play fetch. Jake has a ball permanently inserted into his mouth but that doesn't stop him from trying to fetch the newly tossed ball, barking or attempting to herd all of his doggy friends.
Meet Marley, a pointer mix. Marley joined the Happy Hounds family in January 2013 at the age of 6 months. What a sweetheart! Marley is always on the prowl for love, pets and of course, snacks. He's often the first in line at lunch time but knows that once he's eaten, he doesn't get a second chance. He's always reluctant to leave the feeding room, we don't blame him, his mom does pack some tasty snacks. Marley isn't shy when it comes to begging for pets but we don't mind. It's hard to resist his soulful eyes.
Meet Bitsy, a havanese. Bitsy joined the Happy Hounds Family in August 2013 at 12 years of age. What a cool little lady she is! Bitsy only ever travels in bunny hops which just adds to her cuteness. She has the heart and soul of a young pup. Bitsy will follow the staff around all day, trying her hardest to keep up with all the young whippersnappers. Once bed time rolls around, she's often the first to crash and the last to wake up but once she's up, she's up all day!
Meet Nico, a yorkie mix. Nico joined the Happy Hounds family in October 2013 at almost 3 years of age. This cute little dude is quite the ladies man! The moment he comes in for daycare, he's all wiggles. Nico loves to see his favorite staff. He's one of the best employees we have in the office! In his off time from Happy Hounds. this little guy spends his days in luxury. One of his favorite things to do outside of daycare is boogie boarding.

* When boarding your dog with us, we MUST hav
e your dogs updated vaccination records 48 hours BEFORE he/she begin boarding. If you are traveling abroad, we also will need a local contact in case of emergency.
* Your dog MUST have a snap "quick release" collar for day care and boarding, with no tags attached. You can keep the snap collar in your Happy Hounds backpack. If this is not his/her daily collar we will change it out when your dogs arrive at Happy Hounds. This is important for your dogs safety.
* Be sure to inform us of any changes in contact information; phone numbers, email/home address, emergency contact, etc.
* If a family member or friend is picking up your pooch from daycare or boarding, you
must pre-pay their bill. If it's a last minute decision to have someone else pick your pup up, please give us a call with payment and let us know who we should be expecting.
