Happy Hounds News
August 2016

There's only a few weeks left to plan a fun family vacation, if you're considering packing your pups bag for a Happy Hounds stay, please be sure to give us at least 48 hours in advance for this busy boarding time. Once the kids prepare their bags to begin another school year, you may find yourself needing a place for the pooch to stay and play during those long, boring, lonely days at home. If you're considering setting up a standing reservation, let us know! You can reserve any day of the week for however long you'd like. If any conflicting days arise with your schedule, we're more than happy to cancel or switch days, just be sure to let us know as we'll be planning on seeing your pup the same days every week. Please note that we reserve the right to charge for no-shows.

We're thrilled to announce the return of our Ashley! As most of you know, Ashley has been a part of the Happy Hounds family since February 2010. The staff, clients and the dogs are beyond excited to welcome Ashley back as the full time manager here at Happy Hounds. As always, we welcome clients to contact us for any reason at all. We will be forwarding all email accounts to one main account so please, update our information in your email contacts to  HappyHoundsDaycare.mi@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Happy Hounds

Romp In Peace
On Friday, July 22 nd , we said goodbye to one of our furry family members and that same member, Lily, a Cocker Spaniel Mix, said hello to the wondrous land of doggy heaven. Lily joined the Happy Hounds family in December 2011 at the age of 7. Looking at her sweet face, it's hard to believe she was actually a pound puppy with a rough past. Though Lily had a pretty extreme case of allergies and skin problems, the moment her mom, Karen, saw her sitting in her kennel, she knew it was love. It takes a lot for someone to adopt a dog with health problems and it's amazing to see the compassion those who do, have. Lily's mom did everything to keep her happy and comfortable, even so, Lily never let anything bring her spirits down. A typical day with Lily at Happy Hounds consisted of a lot of napping, sun bathing and wrangling the young whippersnappers who so rudely decided to play in the same room as her. As Lily grew older, she began to lose her hearing but never her will to keep those naughty pups in line. Once feeding time approached, Lily was often first to line up, just begging for her lunch time snack. After receiving the snack, she'd promptly run to the door and wait, treat in mouth and ready to be buried. One of Lily's favorite pass times, besides napping, was to bury all her treats in her backyard at home.... She never understood why we wouldn't let her leave the room with her snack. Ha! Perhaps she was saving them to share with her friends in doggy heaven?  It's never easy saying farewell to a good friend but knowing their life was full, happy and complete gives us all solace at such a hard time.

Dogs of the Month
Meet Wrigley
Wrigley, a lab mix, joined the Happy Hounds family in May 2009 at the age of 6 months. This unique looking man is an overnighter's dream pooch. Wrigley is all about the nighttime cuddles and is courteous enough to actually SHARE the bed with his human and doggy companions. If he's not busy soaking up attention, he's probably in the basement, fun governing. Though he takes his patrolling job very seriously, he's a very sensitive soul. Always eager to please.

Meet Pippin
Pippin, a Golden Doodle, joined the Happy Hounds family in January 2013 at the age of 1. This girl has such a great temperament. Pippin loves everyone and everything. Though she's already 3.5 years, Pippin still shows her affection with love nips and gently cradling your hand in her mouth. With other dogs, she's one of our ambassadors, often greeting perspective clients on meet and greets. Pippin is so sweet, welcoming and always ready to play with any and every one.

Meet Gus
Gus, a westie, joined the Happy Hounds family in September 2012 at the age of 7 months. Don't let his size fool you, this little guy has the heart of a champion. Gus takes play very seriously, especially ball. He's arguably the MVP of the Happy Hounds fetch team. His small, agile body helps with quick turns, sliding under others and flying through the air to catch a ball. You always know when Gus wins, he takes a quick victory lap, thrashing the ball in his mouth with a few happy grumbles. Way to go Gus-Gus! You always make us proud!

Meet Charlie
Charlie, a lab mix, joined the Happy Hounds family in February 2012 at the age of 5 months. Speaking of Happy Hounds Athletes, Charlie is one of our best wrestlers. His petite frame and quick footwork makes it easy for Charlie to get out from underneath his match opponent and quickly get the upper-hand. He's fearless and will take on any dog, any size. However, his victory bark needs a little bit of work. No one takes his cute, squeaky 'roo-roos' very seriously. Not to mention those ears. How can anyone resist his cute crooked ears?!
