H appy Hounds News
September 2018

And so begins our last few weeks of Summer! As always, make sure to update your standing reservation if changes need to be made.

We will be sending out another vaccination expiry notice within the next week or so. There is no need to reply, it will be more of a reminder to those who have not sent completed influenza series or have not yet started series. We do not want proof of first vaccine, only proof of the fully completed series. Do not be alarmed if you've begun the series and are receiving the expiry notice. Again, this is just a friendly reminder that time is running out before the Oct. 1st deadline. If you've sent proof of the first round and don't see it on the reminder, don't worry! We are only adding the vaccine to your pups' file once we have the completed proof.

While we are on the topic of vaccines, please  cancel any upcoming daycare if your dog recently received vaccinations within the last 24-48 hours. We find that pups attending the day after receiving vaccines aren't themselves. They're often tired, sore and grumpy and others just plain don't feel well afterwards. So if your pup will be receiving vaccines within 48 hours of a planned daycare day, just shoot us an email or give us a call. We'd be more than happy to switch days or cancel your pooch.

And the moment we've all been waiting for... Happy Hounds will be hosting our very first Canine Costume Contest/Pawty. Mark your calendars and stop on by October 27th. The pawty begins at 12pm and at 3pm. The contest judges will be tallying votes at 1:30pm with prizes handed out shortly after. The event will be located in the back parking lot of Happy Hounds. That being said, we will not have parking available for the event. For more details and a sneak peak at the menu, keep scrolling!

Sincerely,

Happy Hounds

Meet Willow

Willow, a Samoyed, joined the Happy Hounds Family in March 2011 at the age of 5 months.

I know what you're all thinking... "What a pure ball of cotton candy. Surely this sweet being can do no wrong!" Ha! Try spending summer with him blocking the best air vent in the entire building. But as long as he's comfortable, that's all that matters. We don't judge him for it too much... after all, when it's 90 out and humid, any one of us would be doing the same thing.

Willow is not only full of fluff, he's also full of sass and personality. His day starts the same every day. We always know when Willow is about to arrive when we hear his unmistakable bark all the way down the street. I mean, clearly he's just trying to make up for the lack of trumpets announcing his presence and the lack of red carpeting rolling from his car to the lobby door. Once in, he must quiet his disappointment by hopping on the lobby chair and flinging open the treat jar.. Just helping himself. It's pretty obvious that Willow is an emotional eater but then again, who isn't?

During the day, he's either:
A. Suctioned to the vent.
B. Wrestling with his BFF Pongo
C. Impatiently waiting at feeding room door hoping it's his turn.
D. Getting back in line at the feeding room door and complaining about our poor service... And we're left reminding him that this is NOT an All You Can Eat Buffet
E. Defending his fluff from his BFF Pongo, who is convinced Willow is in fact made of Cotton Candy. Not only do we spend the day sweeping small fragments of Willow from our floors, we're often prying open Pongo's mouth, pulling out little bits of Willow.

Though Willow loves hanging out with us, when he's ready to go home, he lets us all know. Once mom and dad arrive, Willow is quick to complain about what took them so long. How ever could they LEAVE HIM PAST HIS DINNER TIME BECAUSE HE IS STARVING AND WASTING AWAY.

With all these over the top antics and his larger than life personality, we can always count on having a few good laughs on Willow Days. So thank you Willow, for always giving us something to smile about and for being so darn fluffy and cute.
