As the year comes to a close, all of us at LARC send our heartfelt thanks for the compassion and generosity you’ve shown for our rescued animals

Kobe, Rescued Last Week

Kobe is yet another owner relinquishment due to the high failure rate in keeping wolfdogs as pets. The breeders give false promises to buyers that these animals will not dig out, jump out, bite, and destroy property. And people eager to own a part-wild animal are never prepared for what they get. These animals are mixed with dog so they are less afraid of humans and more likely to bite. Wolves run from humans (and rightly so!).

This wolfdog continuously howled when left outside disturbing the neighbors, repeatedly dug out of his small enclosure, killed neighborhood pets, and bit a neighbor. If LARC didn't take him he would have been euthanized by the State. It is a lose-lose for both owner and animal - and others. But that doesn't mean we don't love each and every one of them, not the least our new Kobe boy.

A Message from LARC's President

Dear Friends,

Wishing all of you a very happy holiday. With the end of the year upon us I must appeal to those who would like to get a tax deduction for their donation for now is the time. I like to think of it as a win-win because your support helps each and every animal here at LARC along with our veterans. In addition, I believe donating provides an intrinsic gratification knowing that you have helped these precious souls. And having a tax break is a help as well, I hope.

When I look in the eyes of our rescues I make a promise to them that they will be cared for the entire remainder of their lives, no matter how long. And with your help I make that promise come true each day.
