Wishing our American friends and neighbours a Happy Independence Day!

For those unable to get to Lake of Bays this summer due to the border closure, we miss you.

REMINDER: Before using fireworks, please let your neighbours with pets know. Many pets are frightened by the noise and may run away.

Propane program
LOBA will again be negotiating group rates with our two partner suppliers for the upcoming year. We are pleased that Superior Propane and Grant Propane are continuing to offer our members group pricing on propane for home and cottage heating and standby generators. Prices for the 2020/2021 season will be set shortly.

Both companies offer remote tank monitoring technology, a key benefit for those members who do not have someone checking their place regularly.

In order to streamline the process, all members who have previously asked LOBA to provide details, or given LOBA permission to disclose contact details to a propane supplier could be contacted by the supplier directly. Both companies have ads in our 2020 Yearbook should you wish to contact them directly.

Summer is the best time to switch suppliers, as tank replacement and access is easier. Contact Fraser Govan at 705 767-3692 for further information or to initiate a switch to one of our partners.
On June 10, 2020 two tornadoes impacted the Township of Lake of Bays. Recently, the Northern Tornadoes Project, in collaboration with Environment Canada, classified these tornadoes at the EF1 and EF2 levels.

The EF2 tornado touched down on the east shore of Mary Lake at 7:45 p.m. EDT. It travelled northeast ending northeast of Dwight and had a path of 24.6 kilometres in length, with 190 km/h winds.

The EF1 tornado touched down just southwest of Baysville at 8 p.m. EDT. It travelled northeast to Dickie Lake and had a path of 5.6 kilometres in length, with 145 km/h winds.

The Township of Lake of Bays is asking any tornado impacted residents to complete this survey in order to support an accurate impact assessment of the tornadoes to the Lake of Bays community.

Please note, damage caused by wind or tornadoes is generally covered under a standard insurance policy. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance provider, if they have not done so already.
