On June 10, 2020 two tornadoes impacted the Township of Lake of Bays. Recently, the Northern Tornadoes Project, in collaboration with Environment Canada, classified these tornadoes at the EF1 and EF2 levels.
The EF2 tornado touched down on the east shore of Mary Lake at 7:45 p.m. EDT. It travelled northeast ending northeast of Dwight and had a path of 24.6 kilometres in length, with 190 km/h winds.
The EF1 tornado touched down just southwest of Baysville at 8 p.m. EDT. It travelled northeast to Dickie Lake and had a path of 5.6 kilometres in length, with 145 km/h winds.
The Township of Lake of Bays is asking any tornado impacted residents to complete
this survey
in order to support an accurate impact assessment of the tornadoes to the Lake of Bays community.
