In May, hundreds of Cedar Valley students toured the farm with their classmates to learn how milk gets from our cows to their cups. They also got to interact with our calves and cows.
On May 30, Austin (pictured here) and his class got to meet Sherbert, who was born to mom Shandy just hours before the students arrived. The students were fascinated by the newborn calf attempting to stand on her wobbly little legs and gave her lots of love when she decided to nap instead.

Reinbeck resident Ashley Bridenburg has been a longtime customer at our farm and Waterloo stores.
Last week she visited our Cedar Falls store for the first time and shot this photo with her son and our University of Northern Iowa TC mascot statue.
"I love that you have so many local foods," Ashley said.
Because her children attend school in Waterloo, Ashley typically shops at our Waterloo store.
"Our obsession is your butter," she said, laughing. "We also get your milk, cheese curds and ice cream. When it's local food you know it's good, and supporting local business helps support our cities, towns and state."

We absolutely love Elodie, our June Cow of the Month. The heart-shaped mark on her forehead is proof! It also makes her easy to spot among the herd.
Elodie, who turns 4 years old on June 30, had a rough start as a newborn. Thanks to prompt medical care and lots of love, this lady is now thriving!
She has a sweet, calm personality and likes to be first in the milking parlor. Those traits make her a hands-down favorite in the hearts of our milking crew.

Overnight Oats with Local Berries | |

Refrigerate: 12 hours
Total time: 12 hours, 10 minutes

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
-
1/2 cup milk*
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt*
-
1 tbsp honey*
-
1/4 cup strawberries**
- 1/4 cup local berries of your choice**

Directions
- Add rolled oats to a medium-sized bowl or overnight oats container.
- Pour in milk, yogurt, honey and blueberries. Mix briefly.
- Seal container and store in the refrigerator for 12 hours to let the oats fully soak.
- In the morning, give the oatmeal a stir to combine the soft bottom with the crunchy top ingredients.
- Top the soaked oatmeal with more fresh berries, a drizzle of honey, sliced almonds, toasted coconut or your preferred oatmeal toppings.
- Enjoy cold or warm slightly in the microwave.
