Labor Day Newsletter
Happy Labor Day & Welcome Back
The members of Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS wish you and your family a happy & safe holiday weekend. Many of our staff members, like many of your families, have also started the "back to school" routine. We hope you are as prepared as Bear, and please make sure to pack healthy snacks for the kids.
Citadel Country Spirit
Last weekend, EHBEMS provided additional staffing for crowds traveling through our area enroute to Ludwigs Corner & Country Spirit USA. This event was anticipated to accommodate roughly 10,000 - 15,000 people per day. Luckily, we were not needed, but being prepared is the nature of our business.
Rescue on the Rocks
On August 8th, our staff, Brandywine Hospital Paramedics and the Twin Valley Fire Department responded to Saint Peters Village for a subject suffering a medical emergency on the rocks. Working as a team, these 3 services successfully transported the patient from the woods to the hospital.

EHBEMS urges the community to please remain off the rocks and out of the water. It is extremely challenging for crews to gain access and remove you in the event of an emergency.

Not all our patients are human
Teamwork again played an important role in the rescue of a cow from a manure pit in Honey Brook Township. On August 14th, our staff, along with the Honey Brook & Po-Mar-Lin Fire Companies responded for an agricultural rescue. The combination of specialized equipment and personnel led to the successful extrication of the cow.

Things that go boom
During the week of August 13th, 3 staff members attended training in the sands of New Mexico, which involved education and response to explosive incidents.

This class was sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), New Mexico Tech & the Energetic Materials Research Training Center.

Our annual Membership/Fund Drive will be arriving at your mailbox at the end of October. Our rates & provided services will remain the same for 2019 & donations (over and above membership fees) will again be earmarked for the replacement and upgrading of our response vehicles.
