The Exelon Foundation STEM Leadership Academies have finished, but we are still enjoying hearing from participants...

An Excerpt from Ella Antonishek
Participating in the Exelon STEM Leadership Academy in 2022 was a fantastic experience. I learned so much and was able to be with other young women who are also passionate about STEM. I gained an amazing community full of enthusiastic young women who I can have fun and grow with. Before this experience, I’d been more reserved and hesitant to put myself out there, but attending the academy helped me realize how important it was to step out of my comfort zone and take risks. The academy helped me gain confidence in myself and start building my network. During the academy, I was also exposed to many careers in the energy sector and learned that having a willingness to learn can get you very far in life.
After the academy ended, I wanted to continue my journey with Exelon, so I applied to the mentorship program. This program has allowed me to connect and learn from successful women in STEM. These women have providedme with many tips, like how to build a strong network and overcome imposter syndrome, in order to help me develop my personal and professional skills. Knowing I have a supportive community invested in my journey has given me a strong sense of comfort. In addition to the mentorship program, I’ve also gained valuable knowledge from webinars like smart sisters finance, career chats, and resume building. These webinars have exposed me to many different perspectives and shown me that it’s possible to achieve my goals in STEM, despite challenges.
The many resources that Exelon has made available have significantly helped me pursue my career and have enabled me to form meaningful relationships with many brilliant women. I’m grateful for the opportunities the academy gave me, and I’m so excited to see what the future holds.
