Happy March - Spring Forward!
Spring is officially in the air, and campus is buzzing with activity as we hit the midpoint of the semester. March is often a pivotal month for students—balancing the intensity of midterms with the anticipation of Spring Break. Whether your student is powering through exams or preparing for a week of rest and relaxation, this is a great time to check in and offer that extra bit of encouragement. In this month’s edition, we’ve gathered essential updates on housing deadlines, course registration, and upcoming campus events to help you and your student navigate the busy weeks ahead.
Housing Selection
Returning Student Housing Selection - Housing contracts for the 2026-2027 academic year are now available online. Students planning to live on campus next year will need to complete their housing contract and submit their $250 non-refundable deposit by March 27th at 5:00pm. For more info, click here!
New Student - Students will receive housing information from the Admissions team through their RMU email. Housing assignments will begin to be made in May. For assistance completing the housing contract or creating a roommate group, click here!
Fall 2026 Course Registration
Continuing undergraduate students will begin registering for their fall 2026 courses beginning Monday, March 30. Now is the time to help your student to be prepared when their registration time arrives. Here is some helpful information to share with your student:
- Course registration begins Monday, March 30. Every student will be assigned a day/time when they can access the registration system based on his/her earned credits. Your student will be able to find this information under "Registration Notices" on his/her Banner student profile a week or two before the registration period begins.
- Encourage your student to meet with an advisor. Your student should meet with an advisor in the coming weeks to review their course selections for next semester. Every undergraduate is assigned an Academic Advisor in the Center for Student Success and a Faculty Advisor within his/her major. Some students may even have additional advisors if they are involved in any special programs.
- Students can schedule an appointment now to meet with their Faculty Advisor. Their assigned Academic Advisor in the Center for Student Success is also available to ensure your student is ready to register! Academic Advisors are available by drop-in hours, as well as one-on-one registration check-ins. Students can stop into Solution Central (Nicholson Center, 4th Floor) Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for assistance call 412-397-5000.
- Encourage your student to register as close to the start of his/her time ticket as possible. A Registration Tool Kit and other helpful resources are available on-line at rmu.edu/css.
- Summer 2026 course registration is open now as well for students who may wish to explore available options. Summer can also be a great time for your student to do relevant work, internship, and/or volunteer experience in his/her field of study. Encourage your student to share his/her summer plans with their advisor as well. Our goal is to help our students to finalize their summer and fall plans prior to departing campus at the end of this semester which is only a few short weeks away.
