Greetings!

Happy May!

May is my birthday month and in fact, I was born on Mother's Day many decades ago. I believe that Mother's Day is a time to honor all mothers, whether they're mothers of humans or animals.

May is also Older Americans Month and, well, since I now fit that category, I suppose I have even more reasons to celebrate.

Wishing everyone a good month full of love, health, and whatever you choose to honor during this beautiful month!

  • Write a letter to your birth mother.
  • Write about the best mother you know.
  • For those who struggle with Mother's Day, write about why.
  • Write about a memorable experience with your mother or grandmother.

I Would Meet You Anywhere by Susan Kiyo Ito (memoir)

This is such a wonderful book and perfect for the month where we celebrate and honor mothers. Author Kiyo Ito was adopted and in her twenties, she decided to set up a meeting with her birth mother. The journey to connect with a birth mother is rarely a straight and easy path. There are often many loops to jump through. However, this author persisted in following her instinct and was glad that she did. Ito also lived to tell the story in a most compelling and lovely manner. While there were some similarities between the two women, there was clearly and understandably some palpable tension. Her birth mother initially expressed resistance to meeting, but Ito persevered and her wish to connect came true.

This book was beautifully crafted and rapidly paced. Highly recommended!
