Welcome to Mid-August!
By mid August we can feel the shift towards fall. The cloud patterns change, the nights get cooler and sweaters come back out for those chilly evenings.
This is a beautiful time to stock up on goodies from your local stores, farm stands and farmer's market for dinners outside around a fire.
The Perseid meteor shower was amazing Friday and Saturday night! We hope many of you got to see it.

1st Annual Shady Strong Backyard BBQ and Bluegrass Competition. Noon to 8 PM at Rawley Park, Richford. Adults $10, Kids ages 5-12 $5. In support of ALS to honor the late Bob Shady of Candor. Think you have the best? Put it to the test for ALS! Entry Fee $200 a team. 100% of the proceeds from the contests, food, and raffles will be donated to Shady Strong ALS Awareness. The PreK and Kindergarten staff would like to invite you to an informal Meet & Greet the day before school starts.

Date: Wednesday, September 7th
Time: 1:30-2:00 Classroom meet & greet with teachers
2:00-2:30 Additional time to play on the playground with classmates

During Meet & Greet, you and your child will be able to:
Meet your child’s teacher and see their classroom.
Drop off supplies and help your child find their way to their classroom in preparation for the first day of school.
Drop off any necessary paperwork needed to complete registration.

Please be aware that the rest of the building will not be available for touring or visits; all other faculty and staff will be having a workday.

PreK Families- Please enter through the Main Entrance.
Kindergarten Families- Please enter through the West Entrance.

*Please limit the number of adults accompanying your child to a maximum of two and only bring other children if necessary.*

CANDOR EMERGENCY SQUAD
It's getting closer to home! If you have not had a chance to read the study that the county completed, it brought to light some of the issues we are facing here in Tioga County. This article is from our neighbors in Broome county. The EMS structure in the state is crumbling... what will happen when there is nobody left? 
Thanks to the efforts of many people and the leadership of the Town of Candor, this problem is solved with 24/7 staffed rigs and getting to your medical emergency in a timely manner! We are so thankful for the continued support and the collaboration that we have fostered in our town. 
We are looking for new volunteers who are willing to join our duty staff and help the community. Between special events and activities we are hoping to foster a new growth of Candor EMS. If interested send a message to info@candorems.org.
