Bethany Portillo

Bethany Portillo is a violinist and music educator specialized in string education. She is working on her Master’s in Music Education at Texas Tech University where she holds a Teaching Assistantship with the School of Music education department. She obtained her B.M. in Music Education in her hometown at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she graduated with highest honors summa cum laude. Bethany was awarded the distinction of Men and Women of Mines in 2019 and was selected as the College of Liberal Arts Banner Bearer for the UTEP Spring 2020 Commencement. She was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lamdba National Music Honors Society in 2020 as a result of her strong academic record. Currently serving the Lubbock community, Bethany is the lead teacher for the Hodges Elementary Violin Club through the Texas Tech String Project Community Partnership and substitutes for the Lubbock Independent School District. Bethany is a local private instructor for violin, viola and cello. At Texas Tech, she is a part of the Texas Tech String Project, teaches undergraduate courses for the music education department, and plays violin in the University Symphony Orchestra.

These are our friends through Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and our bunk bed project from 2019. We will continue construction on hospitality space for those seeking shelter and to enjoy community ministry with our sister church.
Cost is $100 per adult or $50 per student plus meals.
Passport is required.
