Happy Mother's Day to all!

Can you guess my DNA?

Hi! I’m Mila. When I was only 1-week old a nice animal control officer took my dog mom and my whole litter to the shelter in Lockhart. I stayed there until I was 14- weeks old when the ladies from Paws in Prison took me to live, play, and learn there.

I heard that I was quite popular with people applying to adopt me, and I was so happy when my new mom, Grace, came to take me home.

I have a big yellow Lab sister named Maizie and a very small little Chinese Crested brother named Zippy. We play ALL the time. My favorite hobby is collecting rocks and sticks.

Mom is taking me to Scent Work classes…so cool! Best of all, we joined K9 Country Club, and I get to run around as fast as I can and play in the water at the club!

Paws in Prison received a grant from the Travis County Women Lawyers' Foundation! This group gives to support services for women, families, and/or children in Central Texas who are involved in the legal system.

The funds are earmarked for 80 large bags of dog food and 8 spay/neuter procedures!

We go through about 10 bags of dog food a month and it's best if the food is consistent, so this grant is critical to giving the best care to our furry inmates.

And, of course, sterilization is important to not contribute to the pet over-population problem!

On April 24, Debbie B and Carrie M represented our organization at an awards ceremony in Austin. Pictured above is Debbie and Carrie in front of the grant annoucement!

Last year, these grants represented a third of our annual income and they are critical to our survival to supplement adoption fees and the generous donations of our supporters! It's also interesting to note that while applying for this grant, we realized about 45% of our dogs are adopted to the Austin area!

Thank you TCWLF! We look forward to your visit to the dorm to witness the transformations first hand!

Thank you for helping us save more than dogs!

We are sorry if we omitted any names from those of you who helped us in any capacity this month, but we do not always know the names of our Paws in Prison angels! (Note that Venmo contributions are especially hard to track more than a name!) Thank you to Laura C, Jessica C, and Jacqueline C.

Monthly donation, no matter the size, help us know what we can count on each month. Thank you to Gale B, Sharlene E, Daniel H, Marcus L, Debbie M, Jennifer K, Shelly R, and Diana S for your continued support!
