Children are a gift from the Lord; They are a reward from Him."

Psalms 127:3

Meet Sarah! This precious little girl is three weeks old. Mom is doing fine. On April 28, she stopped by the center to introduce us to Sarah and tell us how much the PRC has meant to her. Mom is interested in joining our Mom’s Together Group. This is what YOUR support of the PRC achieves. On behalf of this client and many others, thanks for going on mission with us!

CLIENT STORY

Sydney* began coming to our LifeSteps parenting classes last summer as a requirement of a court order. Sydney struggled with severe postpartum depression and her daughter was placed in foster care. While coming to our classes, she discovered she was pregnant with her second child. In our parenting classes, her advocate shared her story of receiving care for depression and encouraged Sydney to talk with her doctor about her history of postpartum depression. She exhorted Sydney to be faithful in going to church and has consistently prayed with her about getting her daughter back from the foster care system. Today, Sydney regularly attends parenting classes, has a healthy, happy bond with her baby boy, and freely talks with us about drawing closer to God. We pray that her demonstrated recovery and life changes will be sufficient to reunite Sydney with her daughter soon.

DIRECTOR'S HIGHLIGHT

As I write this, the legal machinations on both sides of the “abortion pill” issue continue in our Nation’s highest courts. From a purely legal perspective, it’s been fascinating to observe. But when you serve on the front lines of this battle, trying to save a precious life after a woman takes the pill and regrets her choice or providing true informed consent to an abortion vulnerable client who has been promised “the pill is as safe as Tylenol,” the time for Ivory Tower thinking and political brinksmanship is over. The issues become much more granular and gut-wrenching: The young girls who secretly order these pills online from an overseas source, the girls whose partners are slipping the pill into their drinks because these men don’t want to face the consequences of their choices, the parents who find their daughters hemorrhaging or in septic shock; the countless adverse events from chemical abortions that are not even reported due to recent FDA rule changes. You will continue to see and hear a great deal about the issue. I ask you to focus not on high-level arguments nor increasingly shrill idealogues but on the grim realities of chemical abortion at the individual level. Pray for these young women, some of whom are desperate for help. With YOUR support, we will continue to offer clients Truth and Hope.

PS: Two reminders:

First, I hope to meet you at the May 13 Key Radio fundraiser event for the PRC, the Zero Point 5K race. So much fun!

Second, don’t forget the $15,000 MATCHING GRANT toward our Debt Retirement Campaign, which will be available until June 30. Any gift you make to help us pay off the mortgage will be doubled.

FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

I wanted to let you know about some changes that will be occurring in the next couple of months within the ministry. Due to unexpected life circumstances, we find ourselves in need of filling a few key positions.

Our schedulers: Megan is moving to Japan in July, where her husband has an amazing job opportunity. Raphael will be starting nursing school and needs to dedicate more time to his studies and find a place where he can be more active in his career path.  Click Here for the job description.

Our Client Services Manager has entered a season of life where she needs to spend more time at home with her family. We aren’t losing her completely; she just needs to step back as a manager. Click Here for the job description

As you know, we take great pride in the work that we do and strive to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve. However, with the upcoming departure of some of our team members, we need to bring in new talent to ensure that we continue to make progress toward our goals.

For the past three years, we have been operating with only a Development Director, and George has done a wonderful job in this area.   In an effort to continue strengthening the PRC, we are looking to hire an Executive Director to continue the work George has been doing for the last 3 years. This will allow George to focus on his role as Development Director while allowing the PRC to thrive in both development, leadership, and growth for years to come. So please pray with us that God will bring the right person to be our new Executive Director. Click Here for the job description.

If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more about the open positions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are looking for individuals who share our passion for LIFE and are dedicated to making a difference in the world. Click Here for the application. We appreciate your help in spreading the word and supporting the mission during this time of transition.

Thank you for your continued support of the Pregnancy Resource Center, and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Karen Klassen (Board Chair)

NATIONAL DAY

OF PRAYER

Thanks to Greg and Jill Johnson of Standing Together for hosting this memorable event for faith and community leaders on May 4.

We were honored to hear from many leaders, including our own board member Dr. Joe Albano, Colonel, USAFR, Ret., who prayed for our Nation’s service members.

STAFF HIGHLIGHT

RAPHAEL SILVA

“Hello, my name is Raphael. I volunteered at the Pregnancy Resource Center for many months and have since been brought on staff as a part-time receptionist. I began volunteering to meet a college class requirement, but once I saw how important and needed this work is, I felt God wanted me to be here and continued to volunteer for many months afterward.”

-Please pray for Raphael as he transitions from the PRC to pursue his nursing degree!

VOLUNTEERS

April was Volunteer Appreciation Month. We are very grateful to the many people who donate their time, love, and energy to this ministry. Volunteers who are dedicated to their relationship with God can show the unconditional love that our clients crave. The beauty of the PRC ministry comes not only from promoting life-affirming options but also from sacrificially being willing to walk beside women through their experiences to the other side.

We are Hope Dealers! Volunteers are equipped and trained by staff to work with clients, participate in fundraisers, teach thousands of students a year about sexual risk avoidance, liaise with church partners, and assist the ministry with maintaining the beauty and health of our buildings. Join us in building a culture of life in Utah for His glory!

Would you be interested in volunteering? Click the button below to download and fill out our volunteer application! We require a volunteer application for all client-facing roles.

You can email it back to [email protected] or drop the hard copy off at the front desk.
