Happy Mothers Day

We are so proud of the mothers on our CCDO team. We are in awe watching them balance work, studying, and raising their little ones. They are excellent at their professional jobs, they continue to educate themselves and are devoted to bringing up their children. It is a joy to be around their children and see the kind of people they are becoming. They bring a deep level of understanding and compassionate to our team and to mothers in our various women’s programs. They reach out with extra kindness to grandmothers that are raising their grandchildren in our twins program.

If you would like to honor your mother, grandmother or mother figure in your life consider donating a water well in her name. A Cambodian mother will be very grateful for your gift.

DONATE IN HONOR OF YOUR MOTHER

“We often take for granted

the very things

that most deserve

our gratitude.”

Cynthia Ozick

Women helping women

Women helping women with our Women Empowerment Program. Research has shown what we have known for a long time in our work:

“When you give mothers information and means to take charge of their life, her children’s lives are improved.”

In our community workshops we teach rural women to stand up for themselves, make smart choices and also how to run small businesses so they can be more independent. A huge thanks to Soroptimist International and also Starr Moore for continuing to support this vital program.

Health in School program

CCDO is grateful to Texel Foundation for continued funding of the health visits in schools. It not only does medical checkups for students, discovering hidden conditions and illnesses, but also educates their parents on the value of nutrition as well as first aid at home.

Preschools Refurbished

CCDO helps establish, train and run 28 community preschools in villages. We had 5 very old community preschools that were badly in need of repair. The total budget was approximately $4,000.

Here are before and after photos of one of the schools. A great transformation and a safe environment for the little ones and their teachers.

Libraries are not just for reading

We have been encouraging children to be inspired by their time reading in our libraries, be it stationary or mobile and unleash their own creativity. Many are enjoying the creative process of the writing and illustrating their own short stories. Here are two of them.

Remember
Ordinary people can do extraordinary things
to change lives, one child at a time.
