Fellow Kansan,

I am back in Washington, DC for a week of legislative activity and committee hearings. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media.

I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come.

Yours in service,

The Week Ahead

The United States House of Representatives has another full week of legislative activity focused on Transportation and Infrastructure policy. Last night, the House passed my bill, the Recreational Drone Empowerment Act, in bipartisan fashion. This legislation expands safe, commonsense access for recreational drone use and brings clarity to how these technologies can operate. It cuts through unnecessary red tape, supports innovation, and ensures Kansans can responsibly use drones while keeping safety front and center.

Later this week, the House will vote to fund DHS in its entirety. The House has already passed bipartisan legislation—twice—to fund DHS, but Senate Democrats have refused to vote for it. Today marks day 40 of this partial shutdown, meaning two missed paychecks for TSA staff, members of the Coast Guard, and our brave Border Patrol agents. It has become clear that Senate Democrats would rather play partisan games than fund crucial national security programs. Currently, the White House and Senate Republicans are at the negotiating table, ready to make a fair deal, and I hope Senate Democrats come to their senses and do what is best for our country.

Honoring Big First Farmers and Ranchers

This week, we celebrate National Agriculture Day and recognize the farmers and ranchers who make Kansas and our country strong. In the Big First, agriculture is not just an industry; it is a way of life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Every day, producers across our state rise before the sun and put in long hours to feed, fuel, and clothe the world.

Kansas agriculture plays a critical role in our economy, and it is powered by the dedication and resilience of our producers. National Agriculture Day is an opportunity to thank them for all they do and to reflect on the values they represent. I am proud to stand with Kansas farmers and ranchers and bring their beliefs and values with me through the halls of Congress.

Meeting with Kansans

It was great to meet with Kansans and industry leaders in my Washington office last week, including the American Coalition for Ethanol, Cargill, the Kansas Optometric Association, the National Pest Management Association, and the Kansas Community Action Agencies. I appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from those working across agriculture, health care, and community services. Their hard work and advocacy help me bring their perspectives to Congress as I deliver for the Big First. Thanks for the meetings!
