DECEMBER 2021
NEW DIRECTOR!
|
Neva Bandelow joined the CECMP team in December of 2021 and hit the ground running. Neva brings with her over 30 years as an educator and administrator and is a fierce advocate for young children and their families, teachers, and educational systems change.

FEBRUARY 2022
NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR!
|
Brooke Giesen joined the team in February 2022! Brooke has been in the field of early childhood education for over 20 years and is less than one year from attaining her MA in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from The Erikson Institute with a concentration in Leadership and Advocacy.

APRIL 2022
PASADENA INSTITUTE!
|
In April, the CECMP team partnered with the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) to host the first two-day in person CECMP Institute in two years! Fifty participants attended the event, including Coordinators, Director Mentors, and Mentor Teachers!
|
|
|
CECMP also visited five mentor colleges in Southern California where we learned from District Leaders, Coordinators, Mentor Teachers, Deans, and Directors of their experiences with the Mentor Program. CECMP shared knowledge, discussed the purpose, vision, and goals of the CECMP, responded to questions, and asked questions to gather data and feedback.

MAY 2022
NEW PROGRAM ANALYST!
|
Vanessa Dilks joined the CECMP team in May of 2022 as the new Program Analyst. Vanessa has been in the field of e arly childhood education for over 15 years and has extensive experience in providing professional development opportunities for child care providers and providing innovative programs to families, child care providers and the community.

MAY 2022
SACRAMENTO INSTITUTE!
|
The CECMP team hosted the second two-day in person institute, this time in Central California. The purpose of this Institute was to understand each community's experiences with the Mentor Program, to support the rebuilding of relationships and provide tools for self-care, and to support planning for updates to the program.

JUNE 2022
REDDING INSTITUTE!
|
Our third and final Institute was held in Redding, CA. Participants at each Institute this year, received two books - Safe Enough to Soar and Culturally Responsive Self Care for Early Educators. Facilitators led the participants in engaging conversations, supported the development of strategies with relation to the two books’ content.
|
|
CECMP visited 3 more mentor colleges in Northern California to continue learning from District Leaders, Coordinators, Mentor Teachers, Faculty, and Directors!

JUNE 2022
NEW ACCOUNT TECHNICAN!
|
Nadia Nasrudinzada joined the CECMP team in June of 2022 as the new Account Technician! Nadia has been in the Accounting and Education field for over 5 years and Nadia found her passion working in the Education field and being an accounting support to education facilitators and organizations.

WORKFORCE GRANT TRAINING SESSION!
|
Over 45 child care professionals from across Alameda County joined the CECMP team to attend our most recent professional development opportunity, A Reflective Approach to Mentoring and Relationships in ECE.
|

Letters of Agreement COMING SOON!
|

Attention Coordinators!
Letters of Agreement are expected to be sent out
late August.
Please be sure to keep your eye out for them in your email. All Letters of Agreement will be arriving via email as a DocuSign document.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Each college is required to have a fully executed Letter of Agreement (LOA) on record with CECMP, as stipulated in our contract with the California Department of Social Services. CECMP must have your college’s fully executed LOA on record no later than December 9th. (This is also the cutoff date for submissions on the reimbursement site, for December 20th check run.) We will be unable to provide State approval of reimbursement site submissions until the fully executed LOA has been returned to CECMP State offices. Any reimbursement site submission made prior to the State office receiving an LOA will remain pending until the fully executed LOA is received.

Director Mentors are now back under the contracts of the Colleges and they will be reaching out to you to partner (more details outlined in your LOA).
- Selection Committee funds have been reinstated. Please review the Selection Committee Handbook (updating soon!).
