It's the fifth anniversary of

New Trier Neighbors!

Here's what happened in 2022

New Trier Neighbors launched in 2017 with a website, a small mailing list, and an all-volunteer crew of devoted citizens who believe in intellectual diversity, high quality schools, common sense local government, thriving local village squares and civil discourse among all our neighbors. Over the past five years we have brought together hundreds of you at our events, reached thousands through our regular emails and informed you about issues in our local schools and government -- on topics you won't read about in the local press.

We remain all-volunteer -- your support goes to paying our operating costs.

2022 included a return to in-person events, including:

  • Joshua Mitchell and Dan Proft at “Identity Politics: The issue of our time”
  • John Kass and Matt Rosenberg at “The Chicago Way comes to the North Shore”
  • Professor Deirdre McCloskey of University of Illinois/Chicago
  • An evening with Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski, Mark Glennon and Matt Rosenberg about the SAFE-T Act and Amendment 1 (read here about the latest ruling on the SAFE-T Act)

Plus, our fourth SOLD-OUT outing to Caliber Tactical Range to learn safe handling of firearms! (Thanks to all who came out, especially several who had never handled a firearm.)

We also kept you informed via our newsletters on topics such as:

And of course our inadvertent recognition as pioneers in the parents activism movement by Mother Jones! Hear Beth Feeley and Betsy Hart react on this episode of “Take Back our Schools” podcast on Ricochet Network which New Trier Neighbors president Beth Feeley joined as cohost in April.

Check out these other episodes of Take Back our Schools here including:

  • Katharine Birbalsingh aka “Britain’s Strictest Headmistress”, serving low-income students with classical education
  • Dissident math teacher Paul Rossi
  • Former Education Secretary Betsy Devos
  • Teacher and author of Hollowed Out Jeremy Adams
  • Charter school expert Robert Pondicscio
  • Work-study pioneer Cristo Rey School President Tony Ortiz
  • Author Ian Rowe on his new book "Agency"
  • Therapist and Genspect founder Stella O’Malley on the explosion of gender dysphoria among kids
