Greetings!
Although this month has seemed like a long one (so far!), January provides us a great opportunity to look forward! This weekend our HealthAdvocateX Board of Directors will be meeting to celebrate 10 years of work in the health advocacy field! While we originally started as a small, Washington-state effort, we are proud of the thousands of people we have reached through:
  • Public Education - We have developed and delivered public presentations (including, The ABCs of an Effective Doctor Visit, Taming the Medicine Cabinet and Patient Know More!). From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 20, 2020, we have brought timely, factual and actionable information to the public.
  • Professional Education and Learning - We host, curate and moderate highly rated events and learning opportunities for the public and professionals, including Case Review, Networking and our Annual Meeting.
  • Connection to Health Advocacy Resources - Since our founding, we have responded to more than 1,000 inquiries from the public requesting health advocacy resources, including connection to advocates or other allied businesses.

We also had some very exciting news of our own, welcoming three new babies into the HealthAdvocateX family! Congratulations to our three Board Members Jessica Kolstad Kim, Cristian Liu and Dale Reisner…
As we head into the Martin Luther King Day holiday…we honor Dr. King’s legacy of fighting for racial justice and equality. As this time in our country’s history, it is even more important to incorporate this work into health advocacy and equity for all as our goal. Since health advocacy is a helping activity, this Dr. King quote is very apt:

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'”

Where are you helping? Where can we, the HealthAdvocateX community have more impact?

There is much work to do and we welcome your ideas and participation in upcoming events.
Here’s to your good health,

Robin Shapiro (Board Chair) and the Team at HealthAdvocateX
