Happy New Year!

A fresh new year is once again upon us. New Year 2017 is a brand new year to start afresh and to start strong. Volunteer BC has many exciting projects and programs for the year! We look forward to working with everyone to build and promote volunteerism in the province.

Volunteer BC in the News
CBC Interview with Lawrie Portigal, President - Volunteering more in the new year? Don't over-commit.
Prince George Citizen - Two P.G. residents elected to Volunteer BC board - Sarah Foot and Shawn Bellamy
Board Member, Vice President -   Stacy Ashton appointed as Provincial Program Coordinator, Volunteer Resources - Alzheimer Society, BC

Our friends at SoapBox Speakers generously volunteered their time to produce a highlight video reel of the Back to the Future Conference with BCACG in September. Thank you SoapBox for capturing the spirit of our event - highlighting keynote Sam Thiara and the numerous networking opportunities for individuals wanting to learn more about volunteerism in the province. View the video and join us at next year's event!

Whether it's a conference of a thousand business professionals or a community of at risk youth, their speakers take great care to connect audiences' event inspirations to life transformations. The line up of speakers bring varied experiences and stories that will surely capture the attention of your audience. They represent award winning scholars, published musicians and authors, inspirational adventurers, as well as business activators and workshop facilitators; many of whom are available in Canada, The United States, and beyond.

Don't miss your chance to bring recognition to someone who is doing important work in your community! Deadline February 3, 2017.

Call for nominations for Canada's Volunteer Awards is now open, and we encourage you to nominate a not-for-profit organization, an individual/group of volunteers or a business. Award winners will be recognized at a ceremony and will be able to choose a not-for-profit organization to receive a grant of $5,000 (regional award) or $10,000 (national award).
