Happy New Year St. Louis Families!

We are grateful for a new year and a fresh start to the second half of our school year. The events of the Christmas season remind us that we are joyous, we are hopeful, we are loved, and we are faithful people with so many blessings. I hope that each of your Christmas holidays were filled with opportunities to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy your loved ones. The break was much needed for everyone, and we are excited for all that these next months will bring. The teachers and I are re-focused and energized for a successful 2021!

We open our doors tomorrow to receive our students back to in-person instruction. It is week 2, so we look forward to having the White team return Monday and our Blue team the following day. If your family needs to be virtual this week due to your Christmas plans, please let the classroom teachers know as well as the school office. Below are a few updates and reminders for the week ahead. Please take a moment to review them carefully.

God bless,
Anne Dyke

School Health Policy Reminders
Please review the school health policy reminders from Mrs. Dyke and Mrs. Doherty as you plan your return to school:

  • Doctor’s Notes Required: Students experiencing symptoms of illness not explained by a documented condition (anxiety, allergies, etc.) must stay home from school for 10 calendar days from the day symptoms are reported to school, or have a note from the doctor to return to school, as requested by the Fairfax County Health Department. The school will no longer accept the parents’ written/emailed word that the doctor has cleared the student’s return. Doctor’s notes are accepted by email, fax, or at the front office.

  • Travel - eLearn This Week as Appropriate: Any student who was traveling or hosting non-household members over the break must learn virtually for one week from the last day of travel or hosting visitors. Any student who was traveling or hosting non-household members after 12/28 should consult with the school nurse or principal for their return to in-person learning date. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with this policy.

  • Health Reminders! If your child has any symptoms of illness, please email or call the nurse. Symptoms of illness include runny nose, congestion, cough, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle or body aches, chills, rash, fatigue, loss of appetite, and fever. If a household member has been asked to quarantine, isolate, or test for coronavirus, students in that household should remain home from school until parents have consulted with the school nurse.
