Let's Talk, Read, and Sing About FEELINGS!
|
|
Learning begins at birth! TALKING IS TEACHING is a resource that gives parents ideas on how to talk, read, and sing to their young children. This continuous interaction helps to build their brains and prepare them for success in school and life.
Everyone experiences big feelings from time to time. As a parent, what helps you calm down in those moments? Often, what works for us could also work for our little ones! Talk with your child to come up with strategies that will help them through big feelings like taking deep breaths together, counting to 10, and giving big warm hugs. Validating their big feelings lets them know that these feelings are completely normal.

SAGINAW COUNTY WIC
WIC is a supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). WIC is a federally-funded program that serves pregnant women, breastfeeding moms, postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5.
The program provides a combination of nutrition education, supplement foods, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to other health care partners. WIC foods are selected to meet various nutrient needs such as calcium, iron, folic acid, vitamins A & C and fiber. Participants use a WIC Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card to purchase food at approved retail grocery stores and pharmacies.
A family of four may earn $51,338 per year and qualify for WIC.

Count the Kicks
One out of every 169 pregnancies ends in stillbirth in the U.S., and that rate is two times higher for Black expectant parents.
The link between fetal movement and a healthy baby is clear, but research continues to uncover more about the importance of tracking baby’s movements. Count the Kicks uses the latest research to help achieve our mission.
Count the Kicks provides free, evidence-based resources for expectant parents to stay informed and monitor their baby’s well-being.

GREAT START TO QUALITY
Children learn so much in their first five years. Quality licensed programs, for children 0-12, help children learn, grow, and develop. The foundation is set for children to be successful in school, work, and life when they have a safe place to learn, explore their world, and build relationships. Great Start to Quality is committed to helping Michigan families find child care that fits their budget and schedule.
Great Start to Quality is Michigan’s quality rating and improvement system that evaluates the quality of licensed programs, for children 0-12. As a Michigan family, you can use Great Start to Quality as a tool to help you look up and compare early childhood programs to find the best child care. On a scale of one- to five-stars, Michigan child care, preschool, and afterschool programs are scored in different areas, and those scores are combined to give them their Star rating.
