After the whirlwind of my first holiday season at Maria’s Bookshop, I’m trying to take a little time to slow down, fight the notorious post-Christmas cold, and reflect on what a momentous year 2019 has been for Maria’s. In April of 2019 the news about the future of Maria’s was made public. Since then, we’ve been working hard here to ensure a successful ownership transfer. It’s been an incredible process, and not always an easy one, but we’ve come a long way in the last year. The outpouring of support from the community has been truly unbelievable. I cannot thank you all enough!
Every member of the Maria’s Bookshop team has also worked incredibly hard. With everyone’s efforts we were able to host a multitude of great authors, from beloved local writers like Scott Graham and Craig Childs, to exciting debut authors like Zak Podmore and Ayja Buonous, to name just a few. Thanks to all of you, we just finished a tremendously successful holiday book drive for several local youth organizations, in which we were able to provide over 200 books to local children and build additional library funds for the organizations. And in 2019 we also celebrated the 35
Anniversary of Maria’s Bookshop! Thank you, again, for supporting Maria’s for 35 years.
Most importantly, all of us here at Maria’s are eagerly looking forward to what the next decade has in store. We have big plans for 2020; it’s sure to be a great year.
Happy New Year!
