I love this time of year because we can wipe the slate clean, turn over a new leaf, and begin fresh and new! Of course for some, they don't wait until the new year that could be every Monday.
My wish for you is to take time to really get to know yourself, your dreams, your aspirations. What makes you thrive, motivated and full of JOY and happiness? It can be quite uncomfortable if you are not used to consciously reflecting on where you've been, where you want to be, but most importantly where are you RIGHT NOW.
Consciously 'being' in the present moment will enrich your life like you've never imagined. You can be the captain of your ship of life. You can adjust your sails and use your compass of values and morals to direct your life ~ a life that will elate you, surprise you with marvelous discoveries, and fill your spirit with peace, love and pure JOY.
So take the time, make the time, you are the master of the vessel that carries your soul. This is your year! Claim it!

Learning Soft Skills In Childhood Can Prevent Harder Problems Later

Academic learning is usually in the spotlight at school, but teaching elementary-age students "soft" skills like self-control and social skills might help in keeping at-risk kids out of criminal trouble in the future, a study finds.
Duke University researchers looked at a program called Fast Track, which was started in the early 1990s for children who were identified by their teachers and parents to be at high risk for developing aggressive behavioral problems.
The students were randomized into two groups; half took part in the intervention, which included a teacher-led curriculum, parent training groups, academic tutoring and lessons in self-control and social skills. The program, which lasted from first grade through 10th grade, reduced . . .

Is busy really better? I used to think so. . .
I told myself the busier I was the more accomplished I was. Except I never really felt accomplished, no matter how busy I happened to be. So, I beat myself up for not being better and continued to carry on with my busyness, hoping I would at some point feel better.
But the thing is, I just continued to feel worse. At first just mentally, but then physical symptoms seemed to pop up out of nowhere. My energy was waning. There were days I was too exhausted to keep up. I looked for clues in my diet. It was healthy, mostly organic and whole foods. I did cleanse after cleanse. I upped my green juice intake but my energy was still nose-diving daily.
