Pickleball
Pickleball combines elements of tennis, ping pong and badminton, and is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. Over 3 million Americans play pickleball on a regular basis according to the USA Pickleball Association! The sport is proving especially popular with players age 55 and over.

If you are looking for a good balanced workout to help develop muscle, burn fat, build endurance and gain self-confidence, this is the class for you! Slow Flow Yoga with Tonya
This is a gentle vinyasa yoga class or a “slow flow” form of traditional hatha yoga ideal for all ages, from beginners to intermediate students. Click the link below for full class description.

  • Please bring your own mat and a blanket. Wear comfortable clothing, come with an “almost” empty stomach and an open heart to best enjoy the yogic journey. 

  • Students must be able to get down to the floor and back up to participate in these classes.

Therapeutic Yoga/Tai Chi
Dr. Arbeit has quite a life story - after a severe accident, he lived a portion of life filled with immobility and pain. He is very passionate about this program and attributes his current health and well-being to Tai Chi and Yoga techniques which enhance the immune system, increase range of movement, and improve outlook of life both physically and mentally. Classes meet at the Lakeway Activity Center.

Chair Yoga with Monika

Chair yoga helps provide a full vertebral and muscular workout from a chair! Chair yoga is recommended for folks recovering from injuries or who may have difficulty getting up and down off the floor. Many of the stretches and moves are useful for those who sit in front of their computer for long periods during the day. Regardless if you are maintaining health or trying to improve, chair yoga is a gentle and successful way to maintain proper alignment, balance and sense of well being.
Class is taught by Senior Fitness Certified Instructor, Monika Orr at the Lakeway Heritage Center.

Yoga for Well Being
Kate Evans (LMT, IYT200) teaches mindful, breath-centric classes. This program helps students of all ages explore how to unwind painful patterns, correct physical tightness or weakness, melt the grip of stress and generally improve functionality in daily life with minimal transitions to and from the floor. Everyone is encouraged to do only as much as is comfortable, but modifications and alternatives are offered to help provide a complete yoga work out.

Fencing for All Ages
Discover the Olympic sport of fencing! We always say adults can join in this class as long as they don't mind getting beat by a 9 year old! Fencing is fun for the entire family! Whether you want to get a good work out, have some quality fun with the family or want to compete professionally because of your competitive nature, this program will train your skills in attacking and defending, footwork, blade work , agility, balance, strategy and the rules of the game. Students MUST wear long comfortable pants, athletic shoes and t-shirt.

Line Dancing
Line Dancing Back by popular demand is Line Dancing with Heather! This six week class will get your brain thinking, legs moving and heart pumping - plus it's so much fun you won't realize the workout you're getting, too! No need to have a partner for this class, so invite all your friends to discover the many benefits of adding Line Dancing into your life. Having FUN is mandatory in all of Heather's dance classes, so wear comfortable shoes and BYOB if you would like!

Beginner Two Step Come to this fun boot-scoot'in Two-Step Dance Class with Heather. This class starts at the beginning and covers all you need to know to start having fun with this dance. Be sure your partner signs up, too!

Tai Chi in the Park
Learning Tai Chi is a developmental process. The better your Tai Chi, the more you benefit. This simple approach to Tai Chi will have you learn by doing. Most people can practice Tai Chi arts in spite of handicaps or ailments. Numerous illnesses have shown improvement with regular practices of Tai Chi exercises. Developing balance and coordination are part of the learning process and repetition of the moves help develop memory pathways. In addition, these exercises will reduce stress and enhance immune system health.
Tuesdays at the City Park basketball court. Bad weather days we will relocate to a room inside at the Lakeway Activity Center.

TaeKwonDo
Coach Will and his family all have black belts and have competed and won national championships. He has a passion for TaeKwonDo and enjoys sharing his passion for the sport with all ages of students. The 5 major components for TaeKwonDo are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. Your young martial artist will truly be inspired and will be surprised by the life lessons and health benefits received by taking the class. Golf : Young athletes learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting, and body position for an effective transition on the course. All equipment provided.

Sportball Tots w/ parent or caregiver (16 months-36 months) Parents and caregivers can have a direct hand in a preschooler’s development through a range of Multi-Sport programs. This parent and child program will teach children important introductory physical skills and help them develop confidence in their abilities.

Sportball 3-5 yrs Sportball provides children with a chance to learn fundamental sport skills in a non-competitive environment. Sportball sessions incorporate a proven curriculum structure with expert instruction and a supportive setting of positive encouragement and fun.

Big Band Bash
Big Band Bash features the Texas of Republic Big Band on January 10, 2022 from 7pm-9pm. BYOB and wear your dancing shoes! This free event is sponsored by the Lakeway Arts Committee and the Lakeway P&R Department. Please continue to help support these types of programs by becoming a member of the Lakeway Activity Center. Pave the Way
There is one remaining sidewalk section in our "Pave the Way" courtyard area which has room for several tiles. This is a unique way to recognize a loved one, promote your business, support your membership group... with a tax deductible donation to the "Pave the Way" program at the Lakeway Activity Center.

ESports!
Are you an avid gamer looking for a way to connect with fellow gamers in Lakeway? Interested in learning more about the games you love and finding teammates to practice and improve with? Lakeway Parks & Recreation has partnered with GGLeagues to connect gamers in our area and allow players to connect and participate in fun community esports events! Play your favorite video games in an organized and competitive environment from the comfort of your own home. Join our Winter league today for $40 and prepare to compete with other local gamers.

You can compete as a solo player or in teams of 2 or 3 on Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch.

Matches begin January 24, 2022. Top ranking players advance to state and national playoffs.

Trail of Lights
The City of Lakeway's Trail of Lights will be on every evening through Jan. 2, 2022 from 6 p.m. through midnight on the trails directly behind City Hall (1102 Lohmans Crossing Road). Come out and take a stroll on the trail while seeing some amazing holiday displays at this FREE family-friendly event! You may park at City Hall or the lower level of the Activity Center parking lot (105 Cross Creek) for quick access to the trail.

Good Times Scavenger Hunt
The City of Lakeway Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back another exciting scavenger hunt in the new year. Beginning January 1, residents will have the chance to find 10 clocks hidden along the walking trails and facilities at Lakeway City Park. Each clock will have a QR code attached. When you find a clock, use the camera on your phone to scan the QR code and fill out the linked entry form to be submitted for a possible special prize. If you don't have your phone, there will be forms available online to download and print. Residency is not required. Winner will be announced the week of January 10. CLICK HERE for more information.
Story Walk
January 22-February 14, 2022 Take a walk - read a book! The Lakeway Parks & Recreation presents another story walk for all to enjoy two fun activities together...reading and the outdoors!
