Blackstone Canal Hikes


Hike the Blackstone Canal with a park ranger this winter!  


Join us for a series of four hikes on Saturday mornings in January at 10:30 AM. All hikes are free. This series is presented in partnership with MA DCR and RI DEM.  



Please note: these programs are subject to cancellation because of inclement weather. Check the park’s website and Facebook page for the latest information on whether programs have been canceled. 


January 3: Blackstone River State Park 

Meet at the Kelly House Museum, 1075 Lower River Road, Lincoln, RI 

January 10: Millville Lock 

Meet at Blackstone River Greenway Parking Lot, Corner of Central Street and Hope Street, Millville, MA 

January 17: The Old Stanley Woolen Mills 

Meet at Trailhead at 9 Cross Street, Uxbridge, MA

January 24: Goat Hill Lock 

Meet at River Bend Farm Visitor Center, 287 Oak Street, Uxbridge, MA 

Revolutionary War Pension File Transcription Events


In celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, the National Archives and the National Park Service are collaborating on a special project to transcribe Revolutionary War Pension Files. Become a citizen archivist and unlock the details and stories found within these rich records! 


Participants will learn about the value of wartime pensions and hear service stories about patriots from the Blackstone Valley. Rangers will provide training on how to access pensions and transcribe these vital records online. Please bring a laptop.

Wednesday, January 28, at 6 p.m.: Sutton Historical Society
