WE HOPE YOU HAD A LOVELY NEW YEAR AND LIKE US, LET’S PUT 2020 BEHIND! FIRST THINGS FIRST:
The Aspen Board of Health decided Monday that Pitkin County will move to “red” on Sunday. They are looking for the number of positive tests to start dropping and keep dropping. As of today, no Covid patients are in our hospital and the total number of deaths since March 14, 2020, are three. Two were about 95 years old and the other was younger but sickly. Pitkin County received 1,100 vaccination doses and the first residents allowed are for 70 years and older. So, in simple English, there is very little illness and it is the poor restaurants taking the hit again. NO DINE IN, but take out only.
The really good news is that the mountains are all open with food pick up and dining on the numerous picnic tables or outside tents. Bonnie’s on Aspen Mtn. is really creative with cute “igloos” and the take out window is just on the deck!
Please still try to pick up from your favorite Aspen establishments! If you still want to eat in a restaurant, just drive the 20+ miles to Old Basalt or New Willits - don't forget about the new Zane's Tavern!
Aspen is just a joyful place! There are plenty of fun outdoor activities to enjoy such as snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dog sledding. We all hope and pray that we fully open and stay healthy!
