THE
CENTRAL CONNECTION
January 2019

"We are an organization of churches that is committed
to the mission of Christ to multiply disciple-making churches
through evangelism, leadership training, and connection with
other like-minded churches."
FROM THE DIRECTOR
“Becoming What You Are”

" Suppose immediately after you were saved, the Lord stamped on your forehead these words, “Watch me. I’m a child of God.” How would that affect your current lifestyle? "   Read More

Our Update

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.” (Psalm 146:5-7)

"Even though we continue to get “curves” and surprises thrown at us since the December update, our hope continues to be strong in Him."  Read More

CLUSTER GROUP DIRECTOR
"Spice It Up"

"I remember a statement I read by Anne Ortlund. “It’s a sin to bore the saints.” The gospel is powerful and quick. Heaven forbid we become boring!"

Our Emphasis - Build a Church on The Word of God
"As an under-shepherd under the chief shepherd I can see that the Lord is doing wonderful things in our midst. It has been encouraging seeing those who have been here for many years describe their excitement at the direction we are heading. We still have a long ways of grow to mature in the Lord together and reach others for Christ. However, it is crystal clear the Lord is leading us in the right direction. " Read More

God Is At Work
"Oak Grove Church has been profoundly blessed this year with the extraordinary generosity of our Father. Since August of 2018 we have seen God bring an unusual number of people to our community of faith. We have seen a huge influx of at least 60 new people, mostly young Christian families looking for a relational community where they can make a difference. We affirmed thirteen (13) adults into covenant community (membership for those not used to our language) and we have about 8-10 more who will complete that process by the end of January. I am also aware of half a dozen to a dozen others who have expressed interest in making Oak Grove Church their home."  Read More

CBAmerica Chaplaincy
" Oh, the Places That They Go:
Navy Reserve Chaplain Ministers in Unexpected Places"
" Chaplain Andy writes: CBAmerica military chaplains constantly deploy around the world. Air Force chaplains typically deploy to an air base, Army chaplains to Army bases and Forward Operating Bases, and Navy chaplains deploy to Navy bases and air stations or ride big ships on the oceans. So, one would expect a Navy Reserve chaplain to deploy to a base with Navy or US Marines. But not this chaplain. Chaplain Nick Dewhurst, with a background with Sailors (Sea Bees – Naval Construction Battalion) and US Marines, took a different path. Following is his surprising year-end update: " Read More

Caring for a Friend With a History of Promiscuity and/or Abortion
"In my role as a Pastor of Counseling, I am frequently asked questions on topics that individuals believe are too uncomfortable or awkward to discuss with others. Many times people are unsure how to put into words what they want or need to know. It doesn’t mean I’m an expert on the question’s answer; it usually just means I am a safe place—implication: You don’t have to be an expert to be a safe place (i.e., good friend)." Read More

Examples of Mental Anguish and Depression in the Bible
Today I thought I would simply share some examples of when people got depressed or  mentally anguished  in the Bible. If you are reading this while depressed, don’t believe the lie that you are alone, or that God doesn’t understand how you are feeling. Read More
