As we celebrate a year full of blessings, we want to thank you for your support of Habitat McLean County. It truly takes a village to partner with our neighbors in need so they can live in safe, decent, affordable housing.

Some 2019 milestones:
  • In spite of a wet spring putting groundbreakings two months behind, we have 6 houses under construction. 3 are nearly completed and homeowners will take possession in the next couple weeks. That's a total of 176 roofs over the heads of close to 500 children in our affiliate's history.
  • Our Retired Crew put in many extra build days and are the main reason we caught up. A million thanks to these stalwart volunteers!
  • Our ISU & IWU campus chapters started work on their 26th house in 26 years. Working as a team, they have accomplished what few other campus chapters in the country have been able to do and we couldn't be prouder to work with them.
  • We dedicated our first Heroes of Habitat house, built in honor of Sgt Josh Rodgers; the Founder House pays homage to the founders of our affiliate 34 years ago; and the Rotary House is a joint effort of all 5 B-N Rotary Clubs, providing both funding and volunteers.
  • A partnership with Thrivent Financial and dozens of local churches raised the roof on the Faith House, a true coming together of people of all faiths; the Women Build team finished their 16th house - a build led by, funded by, and worked on mostly by women.
  • 3 homeowners paid off their mortgages this year. Cheers!
  • Between the build sites, office support, and the Bloomington ReStore we logged close to 22,000 volunteer hours. According to third-party estimates, the value of volunteer work in the State of Illinois is over $26/hour, which equates to Habitat McLean volunteers contributing time valued at over $572,000.
  • Adding Todd Heiniger to our construction staff to oversee A Brush With Kindness repair program has touched 8 more families in the 2nd half of 2019, restoring pride and dignity to homeowners. With another 5 projects lined up for the spring of 2020, we're well on our way to our target of 20 completed A Brush With Kindness projects by the end of June.
  • The ReStore has broken all sales projections for the year, continuing to be an essential revenue stream for Habitat. Every item you donate or purchase has helped build houses.
  • Habitat McLean County is one of the top tithing affiliates in the country, which impacts hundreds of additional families in Haiti and Nicaragua every year.
  • The McLean County Chamber of Commerce announced Habitat McLean County as a finalist for the non-profit Business Excellence Award. The winner will be named in late January.
