Tips to Keep Your Home Safe for All

January 2020

Happy New Year!

In about 8 weeks it will be Daylight Savings Time - in fact, I'm not counting but it's 48 days to be exact - March 8th!  Time will go by quickly and we will be in our final preparation for the upcoming Rhode Island Home Show featuring the Rhode Island Flower, Garden Show and Energy Expo.  This will be the 70th Annual Home Show and it is always one that our team looks forward to exhibiting at since it is the largest and longest running exhibition.  Stay tuned for more to come about our booth.

Things are happening at the Center.  Soon, we will have our working elevator completed as well as an accessible bathroom.  Rhode Island Kitchen & Bath have completed the accessible kitchen that features appliances from Wickford Appliance.  We are looking forward to having a Re-Grand Opening to show all of the many accessibility products and services.

If you are interested in learning more about the various types of accessibility products, please give us a call to schedule a presentation or stop by our facility at 207 High Point Ave., Unit 2 in Portsmouth, RI.

P.S.  Check out the recent EZ-Access VPL installation that was completed in Mattapoisett.  The homeowners wanted their Vertical Platform Lift built inside a lighthouse hoistway!  Talk about design build!!!

We are here to help!

"Dear Bill and Linda:
I am writing to tell you both including your office staff and installation crews a most sincere thank you for a job well done.

Bill took the the time to visit me in the exploration process. He listened to my concerns and came up with a solution to provide a lift to take us up 10 feet to our raised home entrance. The project met all the requirements for elevator inspection with the Massachusetts elevator inspectors office. The project has been given a permit for use by the State of Massachusetts.

Linda as project manager provided all the technical documentation for the State regulations . Her associates kept me and my general contractor well informed every step of the way during construction and testing.

I am most thankful and impressed by the way Bill worked with the general contractor, the electrical subcontractor and others to provide for a great installation. All events were well planned and engineered to make the project a success.

It was a large, exciting, project for me to undertake. I am most grateful to the people at Home Healthsmith for their work, attention to detail and follow through on the project.   I am happy to have a connection with a good company to maintain my lift and provide excellent service to our equipment.

Bill and Linda, thank you and feel free to have potential customers call me and come to see the lift in operation. I am a most ardent supporter of using your company for any lift work.

Thank you, Colby Rottler"

February is American Heart Month.

Traditionally the month for lovers and all things related, February also reminds us to take care of our heart.  It is American Heart Month.  The annual celebration began in 1963 to encourage Americans to join the battle against heart disease.

Why we do what we do...

"For those who have served as a Primary Caregiver working to safely sustain and support an aging parent in the community it is important to forecast what is coming, and know who to contact to plan accordingly.  As a primary caregiver for a parent, I want to share that by my making one phone call to Home Healthsmith it started the process and resulted in my parent being able to remain in the community instead of a facility.   The biggest takeaway for me was that I felt supported by a team of industry experts. In my heart I know that I did all I could for my mom, for as long as I could.  Home  Healthsmith helped me to do it safely, and we did not experience a crisis."

Tanya Anderson, Outreach Director
Oak Street Health, Warwick, RI

"My Mom resisted getting the lift, but now that she has it, she loves it. I'm happy because she is safer. So, all in all, it's been a game changer for us."
